Onkyo TX-SR800 Receiver Questions & Answers
Zone 2 problem with my
Hi there,
That's a rather nice setup you have there, but the complexity is going to make it more difficult to work out where the problem is.
It's best to start with the simple things and work by process of elimination. The fault definitely isn't going to be with any speakers or the room amps as they wouldn't all quit on you at the same time. It could be a fault with the Niles intermediate/distribution amp or something as simple as a setting which has been changed accidentally on the Onkyo unit.
The first thing to do is check the zone 2 output levels on the Onkyo. Press the "ZONE 2" (SEARCH/ENTER) button on the Onkyo remote then, while the STANDBY indicator light on the front of the Onkyo is flashing, press the LEVEL UP (subtitle) button on the Onkyo remote a couple of times. Make note of the current level shown on the display on the front of the unit. I'm not sure whether this receiver shows the zone 2 level as a percentage (0-100) or in +/- dB.
Correct the zone 2 output level if it's too low. If not let me know what the level is set to and also what symbols are currently illuminated on the Onkyo display. Don't forget to turn down the room amps before adjusting the zone 2 level!
Hope this helps - let me know the above information if you need further assistance. I'm guessing you probably will.
Regards,
BElectric.
My onkyo tx-sr800 powers up and just when you
Sounds like it is failing its self test so it won't try to power anything. First step would be to disconnect the speakers, turn the volume control all the way down, then power it up. If it comes up OK, then you've got a wiring issue or a short in one of the speakers. If it still doesn't come up OK, then there is an internal issue in the circuitry - most likely the power amp, any you'll need professional repair help.

This poping noise is comming from the amp, What its doing is fualting "will need to be repaired". I know you did not come here for us to tell you to take it to a shop to have repaired, but if your not experienced in this type of repair or do not hvae access to parts then that makes it difficult to do.
What is going on is the amp is reaching high limit you might want to try unplugging all your speakers to it powering it off the turning it back on with just one speaker and see if it does it.
If it does it with one speaker then you got issues with the amp inside. If it does not do it with one speaker you might want to limit the number of speakers connected.

Subwoofer
Yes. In the back of the receiver, there should be an RCA line level subwoofer output. All home theatre receivers should have it. All you do is plug an RCA cable into the line subwoofer out, and plug it into the input on the subwoofer. Then, the front channels will be free for the front speakers.
Help!!!

0-83 error on onkyo tx nr 555
The 0-83 error indicates a problem with the firmware update.
Try resetting the receiver's BIOS by following these steps2:
Unplug all cables
Un-Power the receiver
Power the receiver
Before the receiver gets into the "Enter for updating" message, press Tone + CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will show you either the volume numbers or get you into settings of the receiver's speaker configuration.
Press CBL/SAT + ON/STANDBY. This will clear the BIOS and show a "Clear" message on the display. Wait until you hear a couple of clicking sounds for the receiver to turn on and off the power.

Hello
Did you update the AVR over the internet?
If so the device wont work anymore.
You need to service the device in a nearest Onkyo service department.

Onkyo powered subwoofer SKW-791
Oknkyo SKW-791 has build in amplifier. So it can be connected through Line Out Connector of sansui amplifier. If speakers out is connected with subwoofer, the circuit board in subwoofer will be blown.
