Video problem after new power supply

My parents have an EMachine T2245. The power supply burned out. I ordered a new one and had it shipped to my folks. My dad installed it but now when he powers on the PC he gets a blinking cursor, and a check video connection on the screen. I don't know what my dad could have mis or disconnected to cause this problem. Help!

You would get this error message when there is a connection problem between the monitor and the port on the back of the computer tower. Please ensure that the moniter cable is properly connected on the back. Get back to me with further observations. Good Luck

Gateway 3310s desk top computer power supply

Hello,

You can replace the pc with the same watt power supply or upgrade to around 420W and still be able to run your system within thermal threshold. The power supply should be a 20-pin ATX power supply.

Good Luck

EMachines T2245 won't turn on, front light stays on

IT CAN BE MANY THINGS 1 UNPLUG SYSTEM FROM THE WALL, 2 REMOVE THE MEMORY AND REINSTALL THEM, 2
CHECK ALL CONNECTION INSIDE THE COMPUTER CASE AND THE OUTSIDE TO, 3 TO REMOVE A POWER SUPPLY IS 4 PHILLIPS SCREWS POWER CONNECTIONINSIDE CASE, REMOVE THE POWER FROM ALL OTHER DEVICE CAREFULLY AND TAKE IT TO YOUR NEARST COMPUTER STORE, SAVE YOUR RECIEPTS IN CASE IT IS NOT THE POWER SUPPLY PROBLEM, RETURN IT AND GET YOUR MONEY BACK.
POWER SUPPLYS SHOULD NOT COST MUCH, IFYOU ARE STRAPED FOR MONEY GO TO GOOD WILL AND HAVE THE FIRE UP ONE OF THE SYSTEM THEY HAVE THEY MAY EVEN HAVE A NEW ENPTY TOWER CASE LAYING AROUND FOR 30.00 DOLLARS.

ATX Power Supply Question

Most new power supplies have a twenty pin Molex connector and a 4 pin Molex connector. If you look closely at the connectors you will see that they go together a certain way. It can be very hard to tell. Take a close look at the shapes of each terminal. Match them up exactly.

E-machine T2245

need more details - any lights on the box? any noises when its plugged in? if its just dead it is most likely a power supply unit problem - this should be covered under the warranty though it is easily replaced if not.

Emachine t2245 - won't start - suspect power supply

It would be a rare incident to have a dying supply cause damage to the board, which is however, not to say that the reverse can't happen; i.e. you could replace the supply and still not have a working unit.
About the only thing you might do is note the position of the individual leads and colors on the main connector, forget the other ones, and measure from one of the ground pins (always black) to each of the other pins, noting the resistance values you find. If you are lucky, the supply may have a chart crossing the colors to voltages; unfortunately they are sometimes not there.
The 12 volt board contacts (+ & -) should measure fairly high (50-1k Ohm or more) the 5V can measure pretty low without being a problem, could be in the 5-20 Ohm area; this is a high current output. Unless black (to black), none of the leads should measure in the tenths of Ohms on the lowest scale.
Since there have been some changes in available outputs and connectors even on ATX supplies, make sure you compare pictures of the supply to your own but in any case, I would recommend using a replacment rated at 350W as this will run more conservatively and not be as stressed as the 250 you now have. It won't cost a lot more and will not consume any more power but the critical components will run cooler.
Not as a recommendation, just a current example on eBay:

The last couple I bought were $5 each with $7 shipping charge from a US source.

Restore disks

Alot of manufactures will include restore disks with the pc. However if you don't have them anymore you will need to order them from the manufacture either on-line or over the phone. Hope this helps.
