I recently bought an rca ant 1450br multi directional amplified digital flat antenna. So far I have not been able to get any channels to show up. I've tried connecting it in the HDTV slot and the TV slot, I've tried moving the antenna around the room (as far as it will reach with the short cable provided...) and I haven't been able to get anything. Do I need to get a Digital Converter or something?
You have an analog TV, meaning that the tuner in your TV is analog only. You must buy a digital converter to see broadcast Digital TV via your external antenna and it will be attached to the antenna input jack or other jack depending on how it comes out of the converter.
One bit of advice, there is no such thing as a "digital" antenna, they are all analog. Even a 50 year old, outside antenna aerial that you see out in the countryside will pick up the new Digital Broadcasts to be converted by a Digital Converter and displayed on a 50 year old TV.
Thanks for your help, I've been looking around different threads online and I was getting conflicting information about whether or not this TV had a digital tuner. I didn't think it had one, but the manual wasn't very clear about it. I don't have cable run to my house so I was looking to try and get some channels through the antenna. Do you have any suggestions about what kind of antenna or digital converter to use?
If you have local TV stations, within a few miles or not beyond a hill, the RCA antenna should be able to receive them with no additional equipment except the converter, the antenna is supposed to handle local HDTV and DTV, as well as analog UHF and VHF signals. My advice on a converter is buy what you can afford. Since it will become your tuner and pretty much the "go to" box for information, make sure it has a schedule function so it will pull down the broadcasted TV listings. Basically review them online and pick the one that sounds the best for your normal usage. I live in a rural area AND behind a hill from the TV stations antenna, my system is fairly elaborate with 50ft mast, rotator, amps, splitters, switches, and digital converter, and now I have a new digital TV but still use most of the system because of my location.
Forgot to add where I got the analog tuner info:http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/p...

SOURCE: FLM3232 will not receive channels directly from Comcast Cable
Use the TV/Cable rf jack and auto program the TV.
