Digital equipment is hooked up - Pioneer plasma tv; sony digital DVD; Sony digital CD 300 player. Checked digital input assignments - changes thereto make no difference. switch is on automatic (not locked on analog). for some reason, the unit does not recognize any digital inputs!??
possible related, or perhaps unrelated, problem: when CD is playing, with zone 2 on, 12 speakers on zone 2, amplifier on, main system on with 3 front speakers, 4 rear speakers and subwoofer - receiver shuts down after a short while. unit on/off switch blinks red. unit has 2 external fans to cool, and doesn't seem real hot. what gives? system was professionally installed by (then) reputable outfit.
thanks for any help you can provide.

Are your speakers able to handle the 886's power. I have the same reciever and changed by speakers as the Denon would turn off instead of frying the speakers.
As for the digital, have you used the option to change your audio feed and video feed. (for example - I'll show photos through the front input but use the CD -digital for music. Maybe the audio feed is locked onto an analog input. Just a suggestion.
