Samsung LCD TV 46 inch model LN46A550 has bright pink glow where it should be light (sky, lamp, etc)

Congratulations !! Now finally you can buy new TV for you. Same case happened with my ViewSonic LCD Monitor. Its due to damaged PCB behind LCD panel. Check if you are lucky by searching PCB for your TV.

Anthony, you did not list a model #. If you would it makes it eassier to determine what may have happened with your Samsung TV. An LCD would start with LN46----.
I have had screen issues with some samsung product. As well as other makes of televisions that use Samsung 46 inch dislay lcd.

My solution to that pixelation color problem was replacement of the flat wire connected to the Tuner board and video data board,must be new and original replacement part. I clean the terminals(don't brush just spray on)with electronic contact cleaner,let it dry or blow dry with hair dryer to vaporize left over liquid on both boards.Reason these flat wire problem is due to environmental(moisture)corrosion and breakage of the folded parts of the wire. I tested the replaced part and found breaks or cut ,we call it in electronic term"open connection".

Yes. There will be standby light ON, when you plug in the set to AC mains, if the front panel Power Switch is ON. There will ba a clik sound too. When you switch ON the set by its remote control, an other click also will be there.

Hi, while fixing another persons lcd tv i used lower rated power supply to try to fire up the tv ( picture-no sound) the bulbs ( actually cold cathode fluorescent ) lit up but only halfway. So sounds like the power supply for your backlight has gotten weak. You may try a workaround I've used on personal equipment, try turning down brightness on tv-this may,if your lucky, even out the brightness. hope this helped. Prodzilla

Sounds like you need an new lamp. The lamps get very hot. So don't burn your fingers

What you describe is a classic symptom of burned out fluorescent tubes in the display. I'm assuming this tv is a LCD model...Unseen by the user, there are long, thin, extremely bright, fluorescent tubes along the edges(usually top and bottom) which light up a backscreen so you have a vivid image to look at. (sort of like how a doctor views xray pictures) As the tubes age, they change color and eventually burn out. An excellent example of the same technology is a laptop display or desktop lcd display--same exact design. Hopefully your unit is under warranty because this is an involved repair *if* it can be done. Most often, the whole lcd display unit must be replaced. Definitely shop around for repair facilities if non-warranty is a factor.

Try pressing the "cbl" button on your cable box remote. That made it disappear on a TWC Scientific Atlanta unit.

It's seems your backlight lamp is burnt out... if you are still under warranty... call the mfg. up and get a replacement lamp.
