The code you used might be close but not an exact match for the device you are trying to control. The remote should have come with a list of all the codes it can use. Look for if there are other codes for Philip devices and see if any other those work.

you may need to set it up as two devices program a code for DVD to turn the unit on and off and a program and auxiliary code so that you can control the volume then you can teach the remote to use the auxiliary volume without having to press the aux button each time

If it is not in the manual for the soundbar, There is no possible way to get it to work, Unless it mentions auto search in the manual,
