When it is blinking red it means its in sleep mode. at that time the fan is turned off by your computer to save power. Press the power button oce again and u should have it up and running.

If you look up the HP diagnostic LED code on the xw8200, if the red diagnostic LED is blinking 4 times signifies a bad power supply.

the fans should work since start for a while ...check the power supply if it has any connection to it or if it is connected from the motherboard...is a thing you should concern before you kill you motherboard or even worse the processor...

are you referring to the light on the back? if so the power supply has most likely failed, mother board can also cause this issue.

sound to me like a video problem. no beep codes, you hear the fan going so it must be posting. could you try with other monitor and or cable? is there power to monitor? reseat cable at both ends( monitor+ pc)

Sometimesa power supply will start up giving 12V and 5V, but this drops to below what the computer can handle, and the computer therefor switches off. try another power supply (borrow from someone if you do not have a spare) and it should be at least 250W. If this sort your problem out, its the solution.

UIt could, however also be a main board problem, which is more expansive to replace.
