You'll probsbly find the cardioid unit is faulty in they mic, Ive had this happen before. Being a capacitor type device it can take minutes to hours to occur sometimes.
If you have talk back, that most likely why you have feed back. If its on a switch, turn it off. When it was put in, it was done too loud. You can also turn down the gain on the mic.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but those units are fixed frequencies and cannot be changed. You either have to find a mic that matches your receiver or vice-versa. The freeway 200 series comes in 3 freqs. two of witch you have with the addition of 170.245. Maybe you can find someone who has a damaged mic but still has the receiver with the freq. that you need for your mic.
Before getting into the radio, I would check the following: If you are using hand mics, or a desk top mic, have you tried unplugging the mic and seeing if your sound returns? It could be a bad mic, mic cord or damaged mic connector.
Another thing to check would be the antenna connections and continuity. It is possible you are simply not receiving.
Pin 1 is Shield(most mics this wire is bare copper)
Pin 2 is Audio wire(most mics this wire is white)
Pin 3 is Transmit(most mics this wire is red)
Pin 4 is receive(most mics this wire is black)
