Your door's hinge link is broken

Pull your dishwasher from under counter (you may need to disconnect hoses and power connnections, so turn off power at the circuit breaker). Look for the broken rope-like item and replace it. Use the other side as an example on how to re-install the link. Attach link to spring, hook spring back into frame/chassis, threaded link through pulleys, attach other end of link onto door then reinstall dishwasher under counter. My replacement link package came as a pair, so replace both at the same time. The other side may still be attached and functioning, but will most likely show signs of wear.

Broken door spring on kitchenaid dishwasher

Hello,

Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Before repairing the door springs, unplug the dishwasher or shut off the power at the fuse box or breaker panel to avoid an electrical shock hazard.
The door opens and closes with the aid of springs. If the springs (or the cables that connect them on some dishwashers) break, the door will drop open hard. The door will also be heavier when closing. If the door drops open, it may also bend the door hinges out of shape resulting in a door that does not close properly and possibly leaks.

When replacing the springs or cables, all of them should be replaced at the same time.
To access the door springs and cables remove the lower panel located beneath the door. The panel is usually held in place with two screws either above or below the panel. It may be necessary to first open the door to the dishwasher to get to the screws over the panel, then close the door to remove the panel.
There are two common types of spring assemblies. One type connects the springs from a hook on the dishwasher cabinet of to a tang on the door hinge .

Door sqeaking or falling down? - KitchenAid Kenmore Whirlpool

If the door on your have a stainless steel tank dishwasher is making an annoying squeaking sound or simply drops open unless you support it there is a solution.

The system used to open the door and hold it in place on these models uses rope cables and pulleys. As dust and dirt get on the cables they would make noise usually a creaking or squeaking noise. Sometimes the cables would break causing the door to fall.

The fix for this is a new set of cables and pulleys. They are of a different material that will resist the attraction of dust build up and stay quiet. The link on the end of the ropes have been reinforced to help prevent breaking and the pulleys are of a different bearing design. Over all a very good replacement part.

The part number for this kit is 8194001.(See image below) It comes complete with parts for both sides, be sure to replace both sides even if the noise is only coming from one side. It comes with 2 ropes (24), 2 pulleys (9 &17).

Disconnect the power or unplug the power cord before working on this!

To replace you will need to pull the dishwasher out from the cabinet opening about a foot. Look at the plumbing and electrical to make sure there is enough length to move it out.

Once out you will see the cable (24) that attaches to the spring (18) and to the hinge on the door (not shown), replace the cable and pulley (9).

Do one side at a time, if one side is broken do that side first so you have a a guide to look at if you forget where something goes.

I like to snap a digital picture before I start so I can reference back if I forget what goes where.

My oven door cannot open fully

Hello
If your oven door cannot open fully, it could be due to several reasons:
  1. Obstruction: Check if there is any obstruction preventing the door from opening, such as a kitchen utensil or oven rack.
  2. Hinge problem: If the hinges are bent, damaged, or loose, the door may not be able to open fully. You may need to replace the hinges.
  3. Door gasket: If the door gasket (the rubber seal around the door) is damaged or out of place, it could be preventing the door from opening fully. You may need to replace the gasket.
  4. Control panel: If the control panel is damaged or not working properly, it could be affecting the door's ability to open. You may need to have the control panel repaired or replaced.
  5. Broken springs: If the springs that help balance the door are broken, the door may not be able to open fully. You may need to have the springs repaired or replaced.
If you're not comfortable performing these repairs yourself, it may be best to contact a professional appliance repair service for assistance.

My Gaggenau dishwasher squeaks very loudly when the door is opened and closed. Tried using WD40but it just comes back. Dishwasher is 13 months old

Hello,
Try to determine the area where the squeak is coming from. Does it happen as you are opening the door. On many models it is caused by the rollers, and/or the springs that counter-balance the door. WD-40 does a lot of things, but long lasting lubrication is not one of them. Try a silicone or teflon grease in the roller bearing axle. Also try to put some kind of plastic sleeve over the hook of the spring as it attaches to the frame of the dishwasher. If it still squeaks after you've tried these suggestions, you may need to replace the spring tension rollers, they're not too expensive. Hope this helps.

Garage door does not open. goes up about 4 inches. disconnected from opener and still can't open. checked wheels in frame move by hand. opener works when not attached to door.

You probably have a broken torsion spring. If you have a spring on a shaft above the door (usually 2 if it is a double door) then you have a torsion spring. From this shaft you have a 2 cables wound on a drum going down to the bottom of the door. If it is a single door, then this cable will be loose. If you have a double door, then most likely one spring is broken. This allows the door to open slightly, until one side is trying to lift(good spring) and the other side cannot (broken spring) Unless you are an EXTREMELY CONFIDENT DIYer then you should leave this do a door repairman as winding a torsion spring is dangerous, and can break bones or even kill. Now if your door has extension springs on each side of the track, with a pully and cable, then these can easily be replaced yourself. Check that cables are connected to the springs and the door and that one didn't break or come loose or cable off pully and binding.

Door Drops open

You could have a spring (on both sides) in left or right side of washer "unhooked or broken" You need to open up and check. Normally you open up by 1) Top 2) Back 3) Sides and different washers have screws that need to be taken out. Some springs have a combination of spring and nylon string that just hooks in. This is quite easy to fix with a screwdriver and common sence ....

Frigidaire dishwasher door squeaks when opened and closed

I had the same problem and this worked like a charm:
http://www.blog.applianceoutletservice.com/2008/12/frigidaire-dishwasher-door-squeaks.html

All you'll have to do is take off the kick plate, actually remove the cords, and lubricate with soap (lower tech than spray silicon, but it's worked so far...)

WHEN OPENING THE DISHWASHER DOOR, IT DROPS QUICKLY.

Actually I found out that for a LG dishwasher it is as likely to be the cable/cord attached to the spring and door. This a very odd setup in that this cable is made of nylon cord, and not any thicker than a round shoelace! It clearly should be metal cable, and it's not that hard to replace the nylon stuff with steel. Anyway, it is worth it to pull the unit out and open the side panel to see if in facts it's a broken cord or spring first before ordering any parts.
