Jenn-Air Electric stovetop / oven range SCE4340B - Fuse blown ? ? ?

The front panel lights for the burners all work when I turn the knoobs to HIGH, but no action on the burners themselves. It is a smooth top, 4 burner unit. It has been working fine up to this afternoon. I did have some contractor work done in the house today ( new Peerless and Beckett burner/boiler ). They had to cycle the electrical service panel breakers on/off to identify circuits in the house. I'm not sure if something changed or is it a coincidence that it happened when the household electrical service / breaker panel was being cycled by the burner installers ? I first assumed a fuse would be a suspect but why would ther be front panel lights at all? If it is a fuse, what does it look like and where does one find this thing? Can it be tested with a continuity tester? voltmeter? Please help !!

Catriver, Thanks for your quick reply. I did check and found that the contractors used a second breaker and have 120v across black and white as well as red and whit on oven terminal block. Is it time for a new oven ? recommendations?

PS: I just realized what you wrote after I sent mine. I did not read 220v ascross red and black.

Hey Catriver, Thanks a million for your expertise, however, I found something that I wouldn't expect you'd imagine from my previous comments: Turns out that the contractor angle has been dismissed as purely coincidental. The breaker itself had water damage from a leak inside the panel and after replacing it works fine now. Thanks very much for even the comfort of knowing there is proficient help on line. Much appreciated!
    Andy

Andy, sounds like you lost a leg of power. Check the breaker box first. Maybe the contractors tapped an existing breaker instead of adding one for the burner/broiler. You would have to check the terminal block on the range. Should read 120V from each end to center and 220V across the two outer terminals. If you don't have this, something got messed up with the contractors. Catriver..post back

MY JENN-AIR when it is turned on with one burner some times the other igniters start sparking on other burners

The infinite switch
on the control panel controls the power to each surface element. If you have no heat at an element and the element and terminal block check ok, then you may have a defective infinite switch. Disconnect power to the range and remove the console back panel. Locate the switch and check foroverheated wires or faulty terminals first.Test the switch's contacts for continuity with a multi-meter. If defective, replace the switch.
  1. If the infinite switch does not appear to be defective, then you should check for proper voltage to the switch. This is a live high voltage test and should only be performed by qualified persons.(Locate the suspect switch for testing. Label all wires and terminals before disconnecting. A close up digital photo may be helpful.
  1. On the burner control switch the terminal labeled "P" leads to the burner indicator light. The terminals labeled "H1" and "H2" lead to the burner element and the terminals labeled "L1" and "L2" (sometimes "N1" and "N2") are the power supply wires.
  1. Set yourmultimeterto ohms setting x1. Turn the burner control to the highest temperature setting. Place one probe on pin "L1" and the second probe on pin "H1". The resistance measurement should be very low, zero to twenty ohms. If the test shows high or infinite resistance, the burner switch is defective.

  1. Repeat the step above for the terminals "L2" and "H2".
  1. If the control passes that test, turn the temperature setting to about the middle of the range and repeat the previous two steps. This will test for an intermittent problem with the switch. If the test does not show continuity with very low resistance, the switch should be replaced.
  1. With the switch turned to the "Off" position, the resistance on each of the pairs of terminals tested above should now show no continuity or a reading of infinite resistance.
  1. A test for continuity between "P" and "L1" when the burner control switch is on should show continuity. The light should be on whenever the control is turned on. If your test shows continuity, but the light does not operate, it is likely the bulb has failed.
If the burner switch shows high or infinite resistance, the switch is not passing along current to the burner and so the switch should be replaced. )

Most modern ovens usean electronic control board
to control the oven functions. These models will use the control board to operate the oven safety valve on a gas range or oven, and the bake and broil elements on an electric range or oven. If there is no power to the igniter circuit, or the element circuits, then you should check the control board to verify that there is power at the appropriate output relay. These are live voltage checks and should be performed by qualified persons only. If there is no output voltage then the control should be replaced.

I need a left front burner for a CP 220B Jenn Air electric downdraft cooktop: Serial no 069760DM. I also need a new blower motor, I think. Possible???

This is the first result I found; it may not have the best price:

http://www.appliancepartspros.com/jenn-air-range-cooktop-oven-burner.html

The site also lists blower motors, but be sure to verify that the motor is defective before ordering; they are very expensive.

Blown accessory fuse? jenn air cooktop jed8430adb

the unit doesnt have any internal fuses. you have a house fuse blown or circuit breaker that tripped. the fan switch can be found online or from your local parts house and make sure you get the clips to hold it to the mounting tabs.
next time you get ready to work on it, just make sure and turn off the power first as you will touch the metal terminals to the frame again.
