Hotpoint DW440 flashiing lights

Hi,
My Hotpoint washer/Dryer DW440 stopped working with the On/Off button flashing fast and the first button (Drying High heat) and the fourth button (Time Saver) are flashing at a slower rate.

What could have gone wrong with the machine?

Your help is very much appreciate.

Regards,

Jafar

I have just seen the same problem on a neighbours WD440G. I have tracked down the problem to the main circuit board at the back, bottom of the machine. Transistor/FET Q9 has exploded. There was water at the bottom of the machine and the wiring in the vicinity of the nearby connector was wet.
This neighbour is in no financial position to be able to buy a new board, or get an official Hotpoint engineer to confirm what we already know. Anyone know where I can get a schematic diagram for the board?

Hotpoint FDEU 9640 washer dryer - stops during dry cycle with all LEDs flashing amber

If your Hotpoint FDEU 9640 washer-dryer is stopping prematurely during the dry cycle with all the LEDs flashing amber, it could be caused by a few different issues:
  1. Check the filter: Make sure the filter is clean and not blocked. A blocked filter can cause the machine to stop working properly.
  2. Check the venting: Make sure the venting system is clear and not blocked. A blocked vent can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  3. Check the heating element: If the heating element is faulty, it can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  4. Check the thermostat: If the thermostat is faulty, it can cause the machine to overheat and stop working.
  5. Check the control board: The control board controls the various functions of the washer-dryer. If it is faulty, it can cause the machine to stop working.
  6. If none of the above steps work, it is possible that the machine has a more serious problem that requires professional service.
It is important to refer to the user manual or contact Hotpoint technical support for further assistance and specific troubleshooting steps for your washer-dryer model. It is also important to make sure the machine is not plugged in before attempting any troubleshooting steps. It is also important to note that it is not safe to use a multimeter to test any of the heating element or thermostat

Hotpoint washer dryer lights flashing

Check first the thermal fuse.

Test heating element to ensure is not grounded, and staying always on. Test the fan and ventilation system.

If you find no fault in there , then test the timer control board.

Hotpoint BWD129 1200 spin - unwanted drying cycles

This is more a workaround than a solution. When you choose the washing programme (say "D") and push the on/off button, two lights will flash, the "door locked" and the "drying" one. Now turn the "drying programme" button until the "drying" light stops flashing (in my case, this is true when I set the drying programme to 40°C). Then start the washing mashine.

Seems like the function of the drying programme button has shifted against the settings written on the button...don't ask me why! Of course, no guarantee but works for me. Please let me know if it does for you.

ON/OFF & Time saver Button keeps flashing

For mine, it started flashing the on/off light along with the "drying high heat" and the "reduce crease".
Unplugging the unit for 30 minutes appears to have reset the machine and it is now working.
