Circuit diagrams are available online from 5-20 dollars. I doubt it will do you much good, as you will need to be an expert at tv repair in order to read the diagram, and trace the problem. It sounds to me like a bad capacitor near the horizontal deflection circuits, or a resistor near the pincushion adjustment could have blown. If you really want to learn how to fix your tv, you should visit some learning websites that explain the different areas of a tv circuit board and their functions.

This is a common problem on certain models of Philips Magnavox TV sets. The most common symptom is the screen will shrink and expand over and over. After the TV heats up for a while the video will work like normal. After a few weeks or months your TV will eventually stop working and not have video. You can get complete parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com
If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original chips, email/phone support, etc.

You are changing parts in the wrong circuit. The problem is in the vertical circuit. Look for the vertical IC and resolder the pins first. It should be an LA7837 or something similar. Also, check the 100ufd and 47ufd caps in the same circuit.
Recently had same issue and after EXTENSIVE SEARCHING found all three ICs and replaced them. TV works perfectly, also, replaced convergence ICs at same time. The one 16-pin IC for the regulation ckt. is $49.95 the other 16-pin IC is $19.95 and the 8-pin opto is about $10. This price is for a minimum qty. and must have a business for quote.
When you say small do you mean shrunk up top and bottom as well as from side to side. You definitely have a deflection problem either horizontal or vertical. If the picture just shrunk top and bottom you have a vertical deflection problem. Do you have the service manual for your model? If not let me know and I will email you one. Describe the shrinking issue a little more and I should be able to give you some guidance.
It is in the power supply or I would guess most likly in the horizontal sweep section of the tV set. MOST of the time, if the power supply is going lower in voltage, the set will shrink in width,BUT will also shrink in vertical size. If this is not happening, then I would say it is in the horizontal drive circuit. This is not a circuit a user should be experimenting with, as this is the HIGH VOLTAGE circuit and can pack a mean punch! Please if the sets less the 4 to 5 years old you may want to concider an estimate or replacing the set. Its all up to you. GOOD LUCK
