2 or 3 beeps at start up they are error codes of some kind and do not know which error code it is. It sounds like 3 beeps when booting up but not sure it isnt 1 beep followed by 2 more beeps does this make sense? It was making a horrible noise a few months ago every-time the virus scanner would run sounded like it was getting ready to take off into space. But it did not make that noise all the time. I thought I had fixed the problem by replacing batteries in the cordless keyboard but it worked for a few days than again continued to start up with the beeps again. unplugged everything externally. Now what should I try? Thanks in advance for any of your help. have a great day.

That will generally indicate a major system problem on just about any PC. On your PC it should be indicating an issue with the video subsystem. These problems are not always fatal so it might be as simple as pulling the power and battary for a full system reset or you might need to do a firmware reset. at any rate I am not an expert on Acers so hear is a link to the Acer help site with the exact error you are having and they did get it fixed. take a look.

thats usually a software problem, that happens when the CPU gets overloaded and there's still data input coming in! Try formatting the disk and if the beeping sound persists, open the case and look for bad connection between the main componentsand the motherboard

Sounds like the memory is not seated securely. Open the case remove and reinstall the memory to insure it is securely seated and connected.

Any help for beeping acer laptop when opening..thanks

g'day!

i would like to know how many and the kinds of beeps? there are what they call beep codes which indicates what kind of problem the your laptop is experiencing: here are the common ones:

0 beep = no power, loose card, short
1 short beep = normal,POST (Power On Self Test), your computer is ok
2 short beeps = POST error, review screen for error code.
continuous beeps = no power, loose card, short
repeating short beeps = no power, loose card, short
1 long, 1 short beeps = motherboard issue
1 long, 2 short beeps = video issue
1 long, 3 short beeps = video display circuitry
three long beeps = keyboard/keyboard card error
one beep, blank, incorrect display = video display circuitry

aside from the 1 short beeps, you need to take your laptop to a technician to have it looked at.

cheers mate!

I started having the smae problem yesterday with my Acer 1410 bought end of 2009. It started after I had stoped some suspicious process to work on start up (using msconfig). During the night I scanned the computer for virus but found nothing. Tonight I will enable those process to work on start up again and see what happens.

The beeping sounds that you here are actually beep codes and they tell you what problem your computer is experiencing. Check with your user manual to see if there is anything on your beep codes.
