You need to remove this rear wall panel inside the freezer, you may need to take a hand held hair dryer to help you get to the screws securing the panel and heat the panel itself to get it off the evaporator coil that you will find is covered by frost, then defrost this whole area with the hair dryer, then under the evaporator coil theres a heating element, check this with an ohmmeter for continuity it may read everal ohms of resistance,if ok then on top of the same evaporator coil on one side or the other theres a small round disk with 2 wires out of it,this is your defrost thermostat, check this the same way as the heater was checked, except this will check like a switch it will be close to 0 ohms if good, but remember it needs to be checked when its below 15 degrees or it will check bad (open)so to do this after defrosting restart the refrigerator and let it freeze so this component gets cold then check it,if it also checks good then the defrost timer could be bad,it depends on your model what type it is and where its located in the unit

SOURCE: freezer cold but not fridge

too much ice bulid up will stop enough cold air being blown into the fridge.Try turning it off letting all ice melt then turn it back on again and set thermostat at a lower temp. There may be ice you can't see.

SOURCE: Hotpoint Mistral Frost Free Fridge freezer - fridge not getting cold

We have just had to call out an engineer to get our 1 1/2 year old Hotpoint Graphite Frost Free Fridge Freezer repaired. The fridge had almost entitely stopped cooling even when on high. I was amazed at how easily the problem was sorted. The engineer removed all the basktes from the freezer to access the screws on the inside backpanel of the freezer. Once this panel was removed it was clear that the so called Frost Free doesn't really mean what it says. The ice need to be melted with a bit of simple care. It is obvious that with a bit of care it is easliy a diy job BUT PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND READ THE NEXT PART BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO REMOVE THE ICE> The ice forms around variouys pipes etc and he usecd a screwdriver to help release the ice quicker than waiting for it to defrost and he also used a simple hairdryer to help speed up the process. He had a ntowel and a basin to take care of the water. Next time I would have no problem doing this myself but I would need to leave it a little while to defrost and NOT USE A SCREWDRIVER as I am sure somehow I would puncture a pipe or the wall of the freezer itself and I am quite used to doing the odd bit of DIY. On a difficulkty scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being difficult I would rate the job as about a 3. Hope this helps anyone who reads this about £70.

Fridge is cold, freezer is not

Please look into the freezer for frost build-up on the rear wall. If you are having a defrost problem it may limit the freezer temperature and still be cold enough for the fresh food section to remain at safe temperatures but not for long before freezer and fresh food section warms because frost blocks airflow and the evaporator is unable to keep everything cold because of frost build-up. I don't have your model number so I will list the parts that may need to be replaced. The defrost control=> 12002754 Frost Kit, defrost thermostat and 67002493 Defrost Heater Assembly

For testing of the defrost thermosat and defrost heater refer to the same page as the parts, If these parts are good the the 12002754 Frost Kit, could be defective. The 12002754 Frost Kit,
can be found in the control panel inside the fresh food compartment. Let me know if you have questions and also if you are not having a defrost problem, Thanks Sea Breeze

Fridge doesn't cool.

Hello, would you happen to have the make and model number of your refrigerator? In a refrigerator the freezer side of the refrigerator is the only side that produces the cold. If your refrigerator side is not cool but your freezer side is one of the first things that you would check would be to open the freezer door and look along the rear wall of the freezer to see if you notice any frost or ice build up on the rear wall. If you did this is termed as a defrost issue and message me back that you do have this situation and I will instruct you how to diagnose this to correct this situation. If you had no ice/frost build up on the rear wall you would next assure that the evaporator fan is blowing air inside of your freezer. If you felt no air blowing inside of the freezer you would then remove the rear wall on the inside rear of the freezer by unscrewing the 1/4" screws. This would give you access to the evaporator coil and above the coil would be the evaporator fan motor. I will await your reply to your finds as to if there is any ice/ frost and if the evaporator fan is blowing air inside of the freezer before further diagnosing.
Thank you
Rick

My kitchenaid fridge does not get ask cold as it has in the pass The freezer is cold but will not make ice cubes and i have it the highest setting. The fridge is cold but not as cold as before.I have clean...

Is the condenser fan and evaporator fan working? Is there frost build up on inside back wall of freezer? Either fan nor working would affect the cooling capacity. If there is frost in freezer, you have one or more defrost components (timer, heater, thermostat) bad.

Runs constantly, freezer isn't cold enough, bottom of fridge is freezing

Do you have a heavy frost build up on the back wall of the freezer section toward the bottom. If you do your defrost heater has gone bad and will need to be changed. If you do not have frost build up the other problem would be with the evaporator fan or the main board. Let's hope for heavy frost build up.

My fridge is not working but the freezer is at the bottom and is working. The lights are on but the fridge part is not getting cold

You have a defrost problem, not allowing the cold air to circulate to frig.
Open freezer, check internal rear freezer wall for frost or ice build up. Call repair tech or relist here on how to repair if you have repair savy to try and fix.

Amana energy saver not keeping fridge section cool enough. HELP!

if there is frost build up on rear wall of freezer section the unit is not going through defrost cycle which builds up frost on evaporator and restricts cold air flow to the fresh food section. one of three things are bad. defrost heater, defrost thermostat or defrost timer. if no frost on rear wall you might be low of freon.

Freezer wrk OK but temperature in the bottom fridge not cold

If you have a frost build up on the interior back wall of the freezer, you have a defrost issue. This would include a bad defrost control, bad heater or terminator.
If there is not a frost build up then you may have a bad evaporator fan motor.
