Right click on the main screen, go to properties, go to display options, change the display settings so number 1 box is bigger and to the left of number 2 box, all other settings should be set to default.

2012 laptop, mostly dont have such a jumper.
best is tell the helper what screen you get to and is locked.

Is it a Desktop Background issue? Open the Personalize page by right clicking a open space on the desktop, click on desktop background, bottom left, change to fill. If that not the issue, you may have a Graphics issue. Have you done any Software updates, changes? Have you tried a reboot without battery?
sounds like your GPU has a cold solder joint, or the screen cable needs to be reseated. Make sure your video driver is up to date first. If it is, then list the keyboard and reseat the video cable. if that doesn't work, then you may need to reball the GPU. If you don't know how to reball the GPU, then you may simply need to replace the motherboard.
The blue lines are a sign that the screen itself is failing. You can try to reseat the data cables from the motherboard to the back of the screen, but in most cases this is indicative of an immenent screen failure.
1.Make sure your video drivers are all up to date
2.Make sure your screen refresh rate is set to something the screen can cope with
3.Make sure you are not trying to use a screen resolution that is not supported by your screen or video card.
4.You might need a new video card
