SOURCE: Micro sd card not showing up on the gps

Have you got GB Discoverer on the card? The map should appear on the Map Information list in the Setup > Map area. Double check the placement of the map card. Also, in case you have not found it yet, there's wealth of information on the Oregon Wiki here: garminoregon.wikispaces.com

My gsp only has a sd card no usb slot so how do i transfer the update to my gps Thanks

Depending on the type of GPS you have, you have a few options...

If the update instructs you to put the update files on the SD card, you need a means for your computer to access the SD card. This can be done by using an USB SD card reader, which can be picked up at your local electronics, digital photography store or online.

If you have another device that allows the transfer of data between a computer and the device (and it uses SD cards), you can put the SD card for you GPS into your other device, connect it to the computer through USB, and transfer the update files. For example, if your digital camera uses an SD card, you could put the GPS SD card into the camera, and then connect the camera to the computer.

Make sure you're updating correctly - sometimes the update is a file you run on your PC that in turn transfers files through a different means onto the GPS. Read the manual for your GPS for more information regarding transferring files onto the GPS and updating.

Please insert the memory card. I have a brand new 4 GB SD card and what should i do to start using

Best thing you can do, get a card reader, hook that up into your computer, check the sd card and make sure that it is blank. Then copy the the original sd card to the new sd card, put the original card away in a safe place and keep it for when you need to reinstall a new sd card. Of course if you don't want to do that then just stick the original sd card into the side of the gps unit and use it till it starts to act up. At which point you will need yet another original sd card from the manufacturer. It's a viscous cycle. Hope this helps

Why do we need an SD card at all

Most GPS ship with just enough memory to hold the basics.

I wanted to add euopean maps and other goodies to my GPS but did not have enough room

The answer was so simple and it came in the form of an SD card.

It also means I can move m sd card to another device of the same model / origin and use my POI's etc. But most of all if my GPS fails I get another throw in the SD card and VIOLA !

Also if you are lucky enough to have a GPS that can display pictures or play music then an SD card really comes into its own.

These are just a few reasons and there are lots more

I load regions to sd card and meridium platium does not recognize

You do not need to screw with an SD card, they are formated to take whatever data you send to them, but in your case check by reading the card to see what is on it BEFORE you put it in the GPS. It may have junk files on it, thus there is no room, unless of course you try to load to much data, THERE IS A LIMIT, suggest you read the GPS manual, and see what the limit of the size of the card is for that GPS, yes there is a limit!
