THere is nothing wrong with it. On the left side of the unit pull up the rubber cover. You will see a very small switch and a button above it or below it.
With a a pen slid the switch, and push the re set button. Then slid the switch back. and turn on the unit the way you normally do. If it doesn't light up
either you did it wrong, the unit is discharged, or there is something wrong with it. If nothing works call Magellan and if it is still under service, they will help you. Good luck to you.

if you have a volt ohm meter see if theres voltage at the power adapter plug

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

if you can get it to turn on, go to the system settings, then power options. while plugged in, the battery indicator should be moving from left to right if its charging. if its not moving, wiggle the cord where it goes in the 2000 and see if the meter starts charging.

You'll need to go to Megellan's website and download the drivers. This link is the only one that I could find referencing your 2000 GPS. The installation procedure shows only support for XP, so it may not work in Windows 7. The installation guide does say you must install the software prior to connecting to your PC, so the drivers are contained in the software.

if you have a magellan 2000 as listed in the title, the 2000 can not be charged using the USB port, you need to have a car charger or a home charger to charge that unit...only certain magellan can be charged with the usb cable, but the 2000 isnt one of them...


you can read your user manual for the 2000 HERE the link is actually for a crossover, but its the same as a 2000/crossover and the 2500...magellan has removed the 2000 from there web site for some reason, but if you read the manual in that link, all models similar to your use the USB to transfer data to your unit from the PC, the charging port is below the USB port....if you need help finding a charger, just post back and ill find you one...i get all mine off ebay for just a few dollars.

try and run the update and make sure its fully charged and try again...you can get the update HERE

download and follow the directions exactly, and make sure the batery is either fully charged or the gps is plugged in to a good charger.

try it on a computer running XP sp2 or 3 ..i dont have windows 7 so im not sure why its not hooking up..i know even with Xp sp3 it will install and i can update my 2000 but its not seen in the computer as a drive, but the update will install.
