Walt SATA controller goes bad on these motherboards. Disable sata in bios and install a pci-e to sata adapter in one of the pci-e slots on the motherboard. Windows 7 recognizes the adapter with no drivers needed and you can connect a dvd-rom and a sata drive. You will have to reinstall Windows 7 and you will be in business. The pci-e to sata adapter can be found on Ebay for $12 to $16.
Go here and select the operating system you are using and download the "Chipset Driver" and install it:

No, That's not going to help. The unit won't post. I pulled the drive and put it in a jig and the drive and data are intact. That Pegatron mobo is known as a junker. This mobo won't pick up any drives.
Then it's time to get a new motherboard or a new computer.
Thanks everyone. I have elected to get a new mobo although let me clarify my issue: The unit would post and I could run diags and f2 into setup etc.. but when the post was finished the unit would not hand off to the drives under any scenario. Be advised that the Pegatron mobo sucks!!
