Pegatron M2N78-la Bios does not detect drives

No, That's not going to help. The unit won't post. I pulled the drive and put it in a jig and the drive and data are intact. That Pegatron mobo is known as a junker. This mobo won't pick up any drives.

Then it's time to get a new motherboard or a new computer.

Thanks everyone. I have elected to get a new mobo although let me clarify my issue: The unit would post and I could run diags and f2 into setup etc.. but when the post was finished the unit would not hand off to the drives under any scenario. Be advised that the Pegatron mobo sucks!!

SATA controller goes bad on these motherboards. Disable sata in bios and install a pci-e to sata adapter in one of the pci-e slots on the motherboard. Windows 7 recognizes the adapter with no drivers needed and you can connect a dvd-rom and a sata drive. You will have to reinstall Windows 7 and you will be in business.

The pci-e to sata adapter can be found on Ebay for $12 to $16.

Go here and select the operating system you are using and download the "Chipset Driver" and install it:

Also, recheck the connections to the drives, both power and ide or sata.

HP Pegatron M2N78-LA having trouble finding a replacement for my motherboard with the same part number, would i be able to put a HP Pegatron M2N78-LA with a different part number into my machine

Before you give up check on ebay. If you do replace just make sure that the physical size is the same and that the replacement uses the same cpu and memory you have now. Otherwise you will be spending much more dinero.

The drives are not recognized in the post. It will not go to bios. the motherboard is a m2n78-la

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions, DE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to travel through every working device its and have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error
make sure your ram and cmos battery are securely seated with no dust in sockets
During the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS

hope this will help
