Problem upgrading hard disk for NEC PM VL4 desktop

    Hi, I am installing a new 80 GB IDE harddisk. Also could you tell me from where to get the latest drivers for XP as I am sure I'll need them as well.

Kindly state what type of upgrading? Are u changing your hard disk or installing? If you will buy any hard disk will do IDE or SATA but make sure its higher capacity. 80 GB and up is suited to ur PC.

Go to this website http://www.nec-itplatform.com/-Products-Information-.html and where it says select your NEC product, choose Desktop, then Powermate VL, then Powermate VL4 Desktop. This will bring you to the product page, from there you can select downloads and choose which drivers you need.

hi.
did you mean remove internal hard disk from yr desktop ?

if tht, simply prepare 1 philips screw driver and then open yr desktop cassing. after yr cover open, then u will see yr hard disk connected to power and data ( ide/sata ) cable. Open hard disk screw and remove all cable conect to yr hard disk then now u can remove yr hard disk from yr desktop.

Changing the hard disk will not give you any noticeable performance gain, only some extra space. Just get the biggest you can find.
On the other hand your system could definitely be improved by a new video card. The best one, even a little overkill, for your system is something like

Upgrade NEC Versa VX

You can insert the Windows XP CD while logged on Win 98 and run a test from the CD. Obviously you need a larger Hard Disk and at least 126 MB RAM to bring XP to a usable speed. You can look for RAM upgrade options in this page.

yes of course it will handle a 40gb hard drive..your P3 will handle a hard disk up to 60gb...coz i have a friend, his using a P3-700MHz,512mb, 64mb video card and barracuda 80gb hard disk=.)..to make it sure..bring your P3 to the computer shop so you can also know if your P3 is handle a 40-60gb hard drive..thanks..

FACTORY TV CARD PROGRAM AND DRIVERS WON'T LOAD

sir try copying all the files in the installation disk to your hard drive then run the installation in where you copy your file... probably just a read disk error... if you have successfully copied all the files means disk is still working... if you get an error chances are the installation disk is damaged or your disk drive have a problem.
