SOURCE: Compaq presario 700 series cm2130 LCD Screen

I have the same model of laptop; and not had a problem swapping with other X-series screens taken from Compaq/HP and IBM laptops. (My laptop is a bit 'incident' prone, and is +70% by weight replacement parts.)

As for assembly/disassembly and a (very) partial replacement part list, HP publishes the Service Manual(pdf) online.

Also, if you have a model with an aluminum heat sink take this opportunity to remove the sliver solder attaching the aluminum/magnesium heatspreader, and silver paste-- (someone in QC failed highschool chemistry, remember the galvanic series ?). A hard eraser will remove the worst of the rust, use an odd bit of pottery if you need a mirror finish. I then reccomend using a good latex-ceramic paste, your laptop will then avoid the spontaneous shutdown issue.

How do I get owners manual and driver software for my ASUS notebook?

Hi.

The following tip may result helpful to find software and documentation for any ASUS laptop or device.

The disk is usually not provided with the notebook. The manual instead is usually included in purchase, but it may have been misplaced, or not provided if the product was refurbished.

You can download the manual in PDF version and all the Drivers and software files from ASUS website.
Follow the instructions below, since this operation requires several steps and may result a bit complicate.

Click here to open the support page.

A page with a form asking details on your ASUS product will open.

Chose Notebooks in Select Product. Choose your notebook series in Select Series.Select your Model. Then a search box asking your OS version will open. Put Windows version.
Chose EEE Family instead of Notebook in the select product field if you are looking for resources for your EEE netbook. Chose EEE Top, or EEE PC in series field to find your netbook resources.

A box asking your operative system version will open.

A list of items will open. That is all the software. It can be downloaded and saved on a disk. That will take time as there are a lot of files.

At the bottom of the download list on the Asus page you will get manuals.
Open them, you will find a long list of mixed languages. Find the one called : " Manual for English Edition":

Youwill be asked to enter a code, then a box with the download will open.Authorize the program if asked. Save the file in my Documents.

Open the PDF file using Acrobat Reader and print the manual or save it onto a CD.

An alternative way to get manual and recovery disk with driver is contacting ASUS and purchasing the recovery disk and manual.

Regards.

Opened the box and there was NO manual.

Go Here
Under "Select Product" choose "Notebook"
Under "Select Series" choose "U52 Series"
Under "Select Models" choose "U52F"
Click "Search"
Select OS

At the bottom there is an option for "Manuals", expand it by clicking the +, then download the language you want, and open the file. You will need Adobe Acrobat to open the file by the way :)

Was I helpful? give me some thumbs up! :)

Compaq presario 700 series cm2130 LCD Screen

Dear Windwalker,
Not too many screens are interchangeable, be CAREFULL ! if you are good with your hands and are willing to take it apart, the best thing to do is first rmove the battery, press and hold the start button for 1 minute,,,, this discharges the electricity stored by the capacitors in the comp. as your looking at the screen, you'll see the rubber cushions on the bezel,,,, the trim you could say around the screen, remove them and you should see small screws,FYI you may want to buy a small screw driver set if you don't have one, remove the screws.then you remove the bezel this might be tricky as the bezel is clipped around the outer sides so be CAREFULL, you may even need a butter knife to do this, but BE CAREFULL!.once you've don that you can access the screen screws. You may even want to take pictures as your going along so if you get confused when you put it back together it wont be so bad. Once you've got the screen out ,now you can get all the information on the back and do a check on a new screen. FYI if you see any liquid oozing out you must not be in contact with that, it is hazardous to health if consumed so BE CAREFULL! also shard glass is a hazard, it is manufactured micro thin so once again BE....... ok i guess you've heard it enough! if you cant find a supplier for the screen, leave a message here and i can check with my suppliers. but get all the numbers you can find on it as some suppliers will need most of them. Good luck! JLS
