Pressure washer stalls and dies Joe, sounds like you have a problem with the unloader valve, loosen off on the pressure knob and see if that helps, you can try fixing or just replace valve as most people do. See the

SOURCE: Water flows thru the pressure washer pump and out

Hi,

Let the water run for a longer time. "Walk" the hoses, from the faucet to the pump and then to the nozzle, holding the hoses up to displace any trapped air in the lines through the pump and out the nozzle. What it sounds like is that air is reaching the pump. When it does, it cavitates, and no water can be pumped. Tighten all of your hose fittings securely. Try holding the trigger down while starting the washer. It may be easier with another person helping.
Best regards, --W/D--

This is the typical problem when the water admitance valve sticks. This valve admits more water to the pump when the pressure drops when wand is triggered. When pressure increases, water is blocked. This is the way they regulate the pressure. The valve is in a bore, usually crossways to the axis of the shaft of the pump. Disassemble the valve noting how the parts go in. Clean the bore with crocus cloth on a dowel rod. Replace all the O rings on the valve spool. Lightly lube the spool with plumber's grease and reassemble.... Good as new! You can often buy a kit of O rings for the valve. They must be EXACT right size. This is normally a one-half hour job.

I have a craftsman model 580.76800 pressure washer & I can start it & it will run until you pull the handle on the wand then it dies. Not sure what is going on.

What you have described could be two issues. The most likely cause is the main jet of the carburetor is dirty. When this happens, the engine will run fine without a load. With a load (you pulling the handle on the wand) the engine starves for fuel and will run rough or die. The carburetor will need to be cleaned or replaced to cure the problem.
The video may help ... I could not easily match your model to various videos .. but there are others on YouTube that may be a better match if the attached one is too far off base. With my own washer I had the problem of a slow gasoline leak that was robbing fuel to the engine when under load ... it was an old machine so the rubber fuel line had just gotten too brittle.
The other possibility is the unloader valve. The unloader valve lets the water circulate through the pump when you release the trigger. If the unloader valve does not open, the pressure in the pump gets so high it stalls the engine.
Good luck on your troubleshooting!

Husky 1800 Pressure Washer motor will not turn off when wand trigger is released

I think you have one of two things going on hear, an overpressure problem or a carburetor issue with the engine.

Will start and run fine water comes out but has no pressure

Maybe bad pump. Remove wand and wand hose, run machine with water in. High pressure water coming out of wand/hose connection, bad wand or hose. No high pressure water, bad pump, replace.

Devilbis Excell pressure washer with Honda engine runs smoothly without wand, but stalls when wand is attached.

If the pressure unloader is not working correctly and/or the nozzle is partially clogged with debris, the engine will be overtasked. Try lowering the pressure by turning the pressure knob to lowest setting and test. If the engine continues to run, gradually increase the pressure. Try using the washer set to about 75% of rated capacity and use max pressure for stubborn stains. Using any machine at max will shorten the life of components. If lowering pressure does not help, then unloader is faulty or stuck. Try storing the unit with oil in the pump. Remove both hoses and infuse oil into water inlet intill all the water is displaced (let set for day or two). Good luck

As soon as I turn the water on, it comes out of the gun and high pressure turbo wand even with the machine off. I used it yesterday with no problems. It does this without even pressing the trigger. ...

Hello,
This part should be available from the manufacture, have you check their website. It is normal when you turn the water on for a small string of water to come out the gun when you press the trigger even when the engine is not running.
Thanks

My 1750 psi campbell hausfeld pressure washer will operate at first until I release the trigger on the wand. Then it won't restart. If I wait for a while it will run again. Sounds like the pressure switch.

Common with that washer...it has a wabble pump. Release the trigger, if by pass does not engage, stalls engine. You can however keep using it, all you have to do is keep trigger pressed, and when you are cranking engine, depress trigger with the free hand. Can be repaired, but the fix probably will cost more than a new pump.

Pressure washer stalls out when wand nozzle is released

common for not starting unless trigger engaged as you are turning the pump as well as engine creating pressure,as for stalling pump has unloader valve which is probably in need of grease(use good silicone grease)this allows water to ciculate when trigger released.

When I depress the handle on the wand the motor wants to stall

sounds like you have either a sticky unloader valve or a blockage causing back pressure to pump causing excess load to engine,a possibility is to check the nozzle at end of wand incase there is a piece of grit there since engine runs okay with no load, another solution is to check venturi that is located beside outlet of pump that you connect hose for wand to for possible wear or blockage, hope this helps
