My 10 year old electric dryer (Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II) is making a squealing, rattling noise. It still heats up, but something sounds loose. I wondering if I should get it fix or replace it.

Whirlpool Estate Dryer not working

Sounds like the motor has seized. Try manually turning the drum with your hands. Is it hard to turn? If it is then the motor has seized up. If not, the windings in the motor may have shorted. Hopefully this answers your questions

Dryer making a grinding or rumbling noise when it is on

i would bet you hae a dented top of the dryer. thats what is hitting the drum causing the noise. if you put something heavy on top of the unit then the top could have bent down and is now hitting the drum when it runs. and heat as it runs will make it worse.
if yo can, pull the top up and re-shape the top so it doesnt hit th drum and then dont let the top get pushed down again.

Dryer Making a Grinding Noise

The grinding noise is probably a worn out roller or the central bearing in the back. The center of the drum in the back has a part called a bearing which screws onto the back of the drum and has a stub which sticks out. The stub then goes into a bearing hole in the back panel of the dryer. If you are handy, you could try to replace yourself. I did it once. While you are at it, check the drum belt which goes around the drum and makes it spin. Replace it if looks like it has wear.
