Its up to you but just from my experience i would purchase a new one that way you get a warranty. just think if the motor was bad it would not run at all.

Dryer filter
Yes, it will, but you wouldn't want to run it this way. The airflow is designed with an amount of back pressure, provided by the air filter. If you take that away, you will change the whole pattern of flow. Plus, it keeps larger and possibly flammable fragments out of the the heat chamber of your dryer. The heat chamber is where the flames do their work heating the air before it is fed into the tumbler. Those fragments lodge in there, and you could have a fire on your hands someday. I personally wouldn't do it.
You don't say why you want to do this; I'll assume there is some reason. You might want to find another way before you run filterless.
Practice safe drying! Always use a filter!
My LG Dryer timer gets stuck on 6 minutes everytime
We had this problem three times. First two times we just removed,
cleaned and put back the moisture sensor (metal strips inside). The
last time we did as well but it didn't help. We phoned to a service guy
and he said unplug the power cord for 20-30 minutes. And it worked!
