HP Laptop does not connect to internet unless directly

If I connect the ethernet from the DSL (2wire) directly to my laptop, it works. When I use the wireless network to the linksys router (wireless-g) I cannot connect to the internet. I use the linksys to connect my home network and I have a printer off my desktop. My desktop now works fine (it has a wireless linksys card to connect to the router) and I can print and see the other computers before from my laptop, but now I am not sure.

Actually it was the double router that caused the problem. My usually home network used a Linksys Router, but adding the 2wire router/DSL made the Linksys unnecessary. I was still to use both, but by removing the Linksys, I was able to connect both computers to the internet and to still connect them together with the 2wire router.

Im using a 2Wire Gateway DSL connected via ethernet to a Mac G4, I also have a laptop running windows vista and it has strong wi-fi connection, sending packets at optimal levels and speed. BUT Problem

Vista has a well known flaw of not allowing you to easily change access rights after selecting "public network" in the initial network connection screens. The easiest fix is to change the name of your wifi access point, reconnect, and be absolutely certain to select "home network" when the prompt comes up.

The best solution however is to ditch that crummy excuse for an operating system and upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.

Hp officejet 7310 all-in-one printer wireless connection

reset the printer .
and start over in the manual.
no PC stated,
no statement of what works and what dont ,togethe
do you have a router, ? if yes is it theres or yours?
seems call them get teh unstated laptop working first.
first with ethernet cable, that must work first.
ask them , if its their router and their modem.
if all that is yours, your hardware, then you need to tell what it is
first to get connected. make and model..
i guess you now have cable modem.
to get the router working it needs to be setup to the new cablem modem turning off all DSL modes, and using direct mode.
the printer is here.
for any setups , and resets , are all there. to read.

2wire 1701 hg dsl connection drops when laptop is connected via wireless

This is a known issue with this model.. The power supply is not large enough to handle the extra current that is needed when the unit broadcasts on wifi.

What steps do I take to configure my 2wire 2701 hg-b to connect directly by ethernet cable to my Directv HD DVR and pick up the dsl signal being transmitted by my primary westell router? Both are wireless...

Connect the cable at both ends and do a red button (inside card door) reset of the DVR. To test the connection, do thus: Menu -> .....setup -> system setup -> network setup -> test connection. If it shows not connected then "reset defaults" and run "connect now"
As a basic security feature the ATT DSL 2Wire 2701HG-B router/gateway requires you to enter its pre-assigned WEP key to connect beyond the unit itself and then to the internet. Since the Direct TV DVR HD24D only does a basic connection without having a place to enter the 2701HG-B WEP key it never actually reaches the internet.
The 2Wire 2701HG-B has the ability for one attached unit to "pass through" its firewall and internal security settings using a so called "DMZplus" mode. I set the HR24D DVR to such a mode within the 2Wire unit and the DVR connected with the internet flawlessly.

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

2WIRE wireless router/DSL from AT&T

unless this is a wireless enabled or lan RJ45 connectable printer you cannot, the pc that the printer is connected to must be on at the time of the printing.

Wireless printers have their own arial and allocated ip address, Lan RJ45 connective printers can be connected to the router.

2wire Wireless router not working w/Comcast cable modem

Its almost impossible to connect a 2wire DSL router with a Cable modem. They dont go hand in hand.
Although you can connect the outgoing ethernet wire from the modem in the last ethernet plug on the back of the router and then have the ethernet connections coming from the router. But not wireless. and if you find a way, contact me at [email protected]
