My sony 35 inch flat screen and wide body

If the Dish remote won't change the picture size when you use the "Format" button (either bottom left on remote or the "page up", "page down" buttons), then you will need to try the Sony remote. If the Sony remote doesn't have a "picture size" or "format" button, then enter the Sony User Menu and look in "Set up" for "Picture Size" "Format" or the like.

Does it look like the bands in the picture? it is defective panel.

it sounds like a bad t-con board. this board my not be sold without geting the whole screen. the t-con borad is at the top of the screen and connects to your main board

after changing the lamp, I still had the same problem as you. I contacted sony and they offered me a brand new 40 inch bravia flat screen tv replacement...at no cost! If I chose a 46" or 55" there would be a charge between $325

check the settings on the dvd as if you set the dvd to 4:3 format for instance, the picture will be "squashed" to a letter box format and when you play on wide screen it will become "morphed" and mishaped. also if the tv is set to wide all the time, then this will cause a stretching effect. set the tv to auto picture size or "smart" as it is on sony's, with auto 16:9 on.

Is this on all inputs.If so optical block could be bad.

If the broadcast is in 4:3 (square) then either you can have the black bars on the side, or the TV can stretch the image to fill the screen.
Nothing wrong with your set. The broadcast must be in 16:9 to fil the screen.

Its your receiver, not your tv! Switch receivers and it will go away!

Does it only show up on Cable or does it shows on all Dvd, Cable, Sat, etc ?
