Instantaneous shutdown of my Toshiba Satallite A105 Laptop

I have a toshiba Satallite A105 laptop, it shuts down instantaneouslywithout any warning or sign. I gave it to some repairshop thinking itwould be the overheating problem, they said that they cleared up thedust and everything. Now the fan seems to run fine, I can hear it! butthe problem came back after 4 days.. fan is still running fine! Don'tknow what is the problem now, sometimes it runs absolutely fine for30-45 mins before shut down and sometimes it doesnt even boot properlyand shuts down. Please suggest what could be the problem. Also, Ithought may be it's my battery which is causing the problem cuz it;sworn out totally, so i tried running it by removing the battery anddirect with the power source, but even that didnt help.. same issue!:(

Hi Sam,

What operating system are you using ?

If you remember what time it last randomly shut down on you, use the system event viewer to see what errors were given just before it turned itself off. You can access the event viewer in Windows XP by clicking on the Start button, then click on Run, and in the box that pops up type in "eventvwr" and hit enter.

Click on system on the left hand side to view the log files of the system. Browse down until you find the time when your laptop turned off. Hopefully there is a series of errors there. They should be able to tell you something about why it is doing it.

Hope this helps, feel free to post some of the errors back here if you find any!

David

Battery is showing 100 percent but you unplug power supply computer shut down also when you wiggle cord power shuts down

The DC jack in the computer has detached itself from the motherboard causing intermittent shutdowns, the laptop must be dis-assembled to re-solder the jack back in place, and may need to replace the DC jack if the old one is not suitable.

Toshiba Satellit M35X-S114 locked keyboard

Hi there. This is not forced to work but you can give it a try. Perform a forced shutdown on the laptop by holding down the on/off button until it shuts down, then take the battery out and the AC power for 10 minutes, put it all back together and try again. Please let me know how you get on. Good luck

Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop keeps shutting off for no reason.

I think your fan might be broken....if the fan doesn't cool the pc,the processor or the chipset will automatically shut down the pc to prevent burning hardware.Or your hard drive might keep crashing.Oh yeah and abstract from this i don't recommend ever using mcaffe

Display shutdown

The next time this happens, try to manually operate the lid switch a couple of times. These switches can go bad and allow the unit to go into hibernation mode.
