SOURCE: self propelled high speed

If by "lever" you mean the step on rocker pedal at the rear of the unit, then we're talking about the same thing. If not, then I have no idea what lever would move to "D" or "I". When the pedal is depressed on one side it puts the drive mechanism into gear, when it's depressed the other side it moves the drive mechanism out of gear. It's about that simple, unless the pedal is broken inside the drive box, then nothing happens either way, usually. The only way to tell if it's really broken is to try it in both directions, if there's no drive in either side then there's a problem in the box. You'll need to take it to a qualified repair shop, not everyone can repair these drive boxes.

How and where do find the switch to activate self propel unit in G4 series kirby

To place the kirby G4 into gear - out of Neutral - just press down with your foot, the Gray & Green lever that is labeled N on the left side of the lever, which is gray, and D on the Right side of the lever which is Green (probably for GO). It is located directly below the Power button.

Good Luck

I have the Hoover, self propelled vacuum. I have only used the self propel function a few times, but our babysitter used the feature and now the vacuum only works on the highest carpet setting. The middle...

Move the carpet height control switch to a higher position if the vacuum is difficult to push. If the setting is too low for the carpet being cleaned, the brushes press against the floor preventing the vacuum from moving easily.Set to a medium-high height setting then check.Slide the "Self-Propel" button to the "ON" position if the cleaner does not self-propel. -----------
The self-propel feature operates only when the cleaner switch and the self propel button are both ON. ---------- Try this settings and check. This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Self Propel doesn't work on Hoover Wind Tunnel

Your self propel wire could be broken. Lean the vacuum back like you were using it. If you stand in front of the vacuum look down and to your left. When you move the selp propel button you should see a wire move. If not then it's broken.

Hello,
What is your question on not self propelled vacuums, you needs to include the brand name and model # if you have it, or a more detailed question as per what you are asking or looking for.

Self propell feature not working

You can order the lever for the transmission on line for about $16.00. It comes as a cable and lever assembly. I just took the top cover off and replaced the lever without doing the cable. The reason ours broke is because we lifted the vacuum by the handle without the self propel bing turned off, this pulls on the actuator and breaks it.

Hoover Bagless Windtunnel - Self Propel feature not working

I have the same problem with ours. If you lift the vacuum by the handle it breaks the lever on the transmission. You can find a replacement cable and lever on line for about $16.00 it is somewhat involved to repair but can be done by someone with mechanical ability. You can try and find a repair shop but be careful, they sometimes tell you the part is not available and try to sell you something else. I think they should be able to do the job for aprox. $80.00, but they may want more. I did it myself plus the height adj. knob for $24.00
