I have an HP OfficeJet Pro L7580 and until yesterday had no problems connecting to my computer. Now when I plug the USB cable in it installs the driver and and it also shows the printer is installed.

I have Windows Vista operating system - but again have never had problems before. I have connected the cable to another USB port as well. One of the diagnostics I ran said that the printer was not connected. I also shut down the computer, turned off the printer, unplugged the power source to the printer and that did not help.

SOURCE: Getting error when trying to fax or scan

The L7580 is not meant to be set up as a scanning device on a network. This unit can only function properly as a USB connected device to have all the features work. Also, for the software to install with out problems, all other All in One software fro previous HP printers need to be removed. Once we did that and did clean install using USB only then did it work.

SOURCE: Vista Shuts down with hp officejet j4580

Disable all the startup items and your security software and firewall. Then try installing the printer. If you still have the same problem try installing the printer by connecting to a different USB port. You can also uninstall all the USB port from device manager. restart the computer and then install the printer.

Thanks

My hp officejet pro L7580 is connected to DOT4 port, there's a hp officejet pro L7580fax connected to USB002. I want officejet pro L7580 connected to USB002, NOT the L7580fax. My desktop is not...

To walk you through I'd need to know the OS you are running, but the generic answer is that you need to go into the print driver, and in the Printer Properties, under the ports tab , select the USB002 port rather than the DOT4 port and Apply the changes.

When installing the software it comes up with,,, "can not find device"

Don’t connect the printer usb cable first
1st you install the driver disc which is come along with the printer and when the software prompt you to connect the cable then plug the usb cable and follow the instruction.
Also I suggest you to change the usb port and the cable also still if you facing the problem follow these steps, right click on my computer and go to properties then hardware in that click on device manger and check there is any other device is listed if it is there just remove it and click for scan for hardware changes when he prompt for driver reinstall the driver cd.
Hope this helps. Please rate my response.
Thanks.

When I try to scan, it reads "No Scan Options".

Try scanning from the solution center. If successful, check the scan button settings if you can see applications available on the 'Destination List'. Add all the application to the right side. Close the solution center and try to scan.

HP L7580 just went blank ??

Does it make any noises or signs of life if you cycle the power?

Is this unit mains powered or does it run from the USB cable only?

If USB only try another USB port on your PC

If mains powered, check the outlet still has power, the cable is plugged into the back of printer. Some printers have a clip out PSU (usually a rectangular box that the mains cable goes into) push it in firmly as it may be loose (you may be able to clip it out and re seat it completely - ensure mains is OFF first). Check the on/off switch is in the correct position, try powering up when not connected to the PC.

Post back results so I may try and assist further.

HP Solution Center reinstalls itself on every reboot.

We experience this issue if the drivers are not isnatlled properly. Once remove the USB cable from the computer if the all-in-one connected using USB and if it is network then no need to remove the ethernet cable. Now insert the CD in the computer and click on add a device option and follow the onscreen instaructions, in the miidle it will prompt to connect the USB cable then connect the USB cable and complete the process. This will resolve the issue.
