Both the Error light and the toner low light are flashing in sync with each other. Please advise on the error and how to correct.
Error light and toner low stay on after loading new toner cartridge. I have already tried opening the front and holding down the cancel button. Please help. Dell 1799 printer
Leave the printer on. Open the front and hold down the cancel button until all the lights are flashing in sequence. Close the front while still holding the cancel with the lights flashing and then release the cancel button. This should reset it.
Thanks
You can also try the following steps :
Reset the photoconductor (PC) drum counter on the Dellâ„¢ 1700(n) printer.
To reset the photoconductor (PC) drum counter, perform the following steps:
1. Turn off the power using the switch on the back of the printer.
2. Open the front door of the printer.
3. Hold the Continue button down, power on the printer, continue to hold down the Continue button until just the Error LED is on solid, then release the Continue button.
4. Close the front door.
The Continue button, Ready/Data, Toner Low, and Load Paper LEDs should all be lit.
5. Wait for the printer to complete its POST process.
This is completed once the printer begins emitting a fan noise and the rollers start, then stop.
6. Press the Cancel button four times slowly until the Toner Low LED is lit.
NOTE: This is the option for resetting the drum counter.
7.
8. Press and hold the Continue button until the LEDs all begin to rapidly cycle up / down in sequence, then release the Continue button.
The Toner Low LED is the only one on.
9. Cycle the power on the printer.
10. When the printer is ready, press the Continue button once to print a settings page.
11. Under the heading Cartridge Information, verify the Photoconductor value is 0K (zero-K).
Thanks
I did try your suggestion a few times, to no avail..then noticed it was for a different Dell Printer (1700) But I did not notice that until afterwards, as When I posted issue, I only got 3 suggestions returned, and just assumed for my Printer. So your resolution probably works for that one, so I just wanted to clarify why it didn't work, and again didn't know your solution was for a different printer until after - Thank you! (BTW this site is new to me, wanted to try something other than DELL as spent a lot of wasted time with Tech Support)

Try removing the toner cartridge and putting it back in place.
Try also unplugging power cord for ten minutes, and check if this clears error message.
Inspect the printer for foreign objects, or paper stuck inside.
If this does not work, it is a faulty drum.
It should be noted that reseting the count on the drum and actually not replacing the drum can have negative effects on the printer.
Please let me know the results..
Reason for this error code...
The Photoconductor (PC) drum is full and needs to be
replaced. The printer will not print anymore pages until the PC Drum
is replaced. (Printer Hard Stop) This alert turns on when the drum is
well past it's life of 30K prints.
Follow the steps:
Power off the printer and reseat the photoconductor (PC) drum on the Dell™ 1700(n), 1710(n), 1720(dn) printer.
To power off the printer and reseat the photoconductor (PC) drum, perform the following steps:
Figure 1 - Opening the Front Cover
Figure 2 - Photoconductor Drum Assembly
If this doesn't help then check if printer is still covered under warranty from the link below...
http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen
If its under warranty, then get the printer replaced, since its an issue with the printer....
