Try getting a Harmony remote control. It will operate your tv and anything else you can connect to it. When the TV gets too old to fix, the remote can be reprogrammed for the new TV, so it never gets obsolete. The remote is programmed from their website.
I too have exactly the same fault. The Tv even turns itself on in the middle of the night, i have to unpug it from the wall. It has been in for repair 3 times now, one guy said there is nothing wrong with it. I am keen to hear if anyone has had this fault resolved.
Thanks
Darren
You can verify that the remote is working. Get a digital camera with a LCD display. Aim the remote at the camera lens and press the volume and channel buttons. If you do not see
a flash through the camera the remote is bad or the batteries are dead. If you know someone with anysamsung hdtv remote, you can borrow it and try the volume/channel
to see if the tv remote receiver is good.
seems that the on/off button on the remote may be bad. when pressing this button look and see if the remote is lighten up indicating its working. if this button does not light up, but when changing the channel or volume it does, then the on/off button is bad.
