FIRST PART OF PROBLEM, YES THE DATA MIGHT BE ABLE TO BE RECOVERED, BUT IT WILL TAKE SPECIAL SOFTWARE TO DO IT. YOU NEED TO FIND A REPAIR OUTLET THAT CAN RECOVER DATA ON A DAMAGED DRIVE. THEY CAN HANDLE THINGS LIKE THIS.

THE SECOND PART IS HARD TO READ BUT I WOULD SAY IF YOU ARE MIXING VOLTAGES ETC. YOU PROBABLY HAVE FRIED NUMEROUS THINGS. THIS IS NOT GOOD. FINDING A SECOND HAND BOARD IS VERY CHANCEY! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING.THE DRIVE IS PROBABLY RUINED ALSO. YOU ARE LOOKING AT A MAJOR REPAIR, REBUILD. YOU NEED TO START TO GET EVERYTHING COMPATIBLE, SAME VOLTAGE ETC. DO NOT PLUG HARD DRIVES IN WITH POWER ON OR UNPLUG THEM WITH POWER ON. THAT WILL DESTROY THEM. THE DATA MIGHT BE RECOVEABLE ON THE ONE DRIVE, BUT IT WILL MIGHT HAVE TO BE SENT TO A SPECIAL LOCATION TO RECOVER THE DATA. THIS IS ALSO USUALLY FAIRLY EXPENSIVE SO BE PREPARED. HOPE THIS HELPS.

Trying to make my seagate barracuda 7200.9 slave

1) Open your computer case
2) On the back of the drive where the connectors are, you have jumpers. These small plastic tabs change the function of your hard drive. All hard drives have a special setup procedure. The information about jumper settings is on the top of the hard drive.
3) Remove plastic tabs and put them according to "Slave" instructions.
4) Connect drive to middle connector of the cord.
5) Connect power supply cord.
6) Secure the drive in place and close computer case.

Also make sure that the main drive is not set as slave.

If you have one HDD set it to master with your jumper settings. Try again. If No go than change the cable connector. If SATA HDD than change the connector on the MOBO try another connector. Restart. If still no go than write back
