Remove the cover and see if the dvd run, if not you got a motor problem or a motor drive one,if yes then try cleaning the reading eyes(pickup)by blowing dry air (get a can at radio shack)check for goods, if dosent work, take it to a shop for a repair thats all you can do, is a job for a tech....good luck

Hi there, I purchased a Bush lcd/ dvd combi for my daughter 18 months ago.... All of a sudden it is not reading the dvds and automatically ejecting them, any ideas on what the problem is, and how possibly...

Hello
There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is the spinning problem of disc inside it. If loaded disc does not spins, the mechanism will eject it. The reason for this is damaged sled motor. Sled motor is one which spins the disc inside at high speed. It can be replaced. The second reason is of Laser Pickup Unit itsef. If it does not emit laser beam, the main system circuit will recogonise as there is no disc in the tray, and play function is energised, and will eject the tray out. Check for the first one. This is most comon fault with DVD players. OK.

Wat should i do when is displays no disc

Hello
If your DVD player shows no disc, even a disc is inserted, try to clean its laser head assembly, by inserting a cleaning disc in it and play atleast three times. Take it ejected each time before you play it. If it does not helps, open the top cover of your DVD player, insert a disc, and notice if the disc spins or not. If disc spins, and not reads, the laser picup unit of your DVD player is faulty, and should be replaced with same type and number. If its stripe wire connected between pickup unit and main board is detachable, try repalcing the strip wire first. In some occations, bad strip wire will show this type of problem.
If disc does not spins, the sled motor [the motor that used to spin the disc at high speed], is damaged and shoud replace it. OK.

When I insert a DVD to play it will not play. On the dvd screen it only shows "LOAD" and after a while it will eject the disc.

If it happens with all discs, the motor "spin-up" system is broken. Best to buy a new one.

My Sony DVP-cx995v stopped playing DVD's

I had the same "Cannot play" problem - happened suddenly, I don't think I was doing anything unruly at the time.

After checking repair (exchange) prices in excess of $250 from Sony, I decided to open the cover to see if I could see anything wrong - normally a futile exercise with electronics except that in the past I have cleared errant disks that have lodged themselves near the drive/player at the rear of the library.

Upon opening and watching the library try to load and play I noticed the drive itself was not spinning the disk once loaded. It would sit for awhile, thinking about it I'm sure, then would unload and load the next dvd, again failing to spin.

I thought okay, maybe try to spin the dvd while in the player to see if it's jammed or otherwise hard to turn. It was not hard to turn and spun freely. In fact, when I put my finger through the hole at the exposed side of the player at the hub to spin the dvd, clockwise, it suddenly started to spin - and play!

I put the whole thing back together to test and all seems to be working fine at this point. Not sure what would cause the motor to stop spinning and remain in that state through poweroff/on cycles etc. but I'm sure this is not the last time I will have trouble of this kind.

I would note that when replacing the library back in its home on the shelf, be careful not to tip the library, especially toward the player area because the disks will spill out of the carousel near the player and become jammed when you power it on and attempt to load. A final tip of the library away from the player area may clear this if you hear the disks rolling out of their slots and you don't want to open the top again (it's a darned heavy box when fully loaded).

Good luck!

DVD PLAYER NOT READING DISC

Well I have been repairing dvd players a while now and the main problem spots are laser ,spindle motor, laser tracking motor and the biggest culprit and un suspecting one the lens cable .....most of them range from the lens cable to the spindle motor though... the constant movement of the lens in watching a whole movie causes the cable to unknowingly and slowly break and if the spindle motor is defective ,on inserting a dvd the disc spins slowly and you may hear the lens chirping ... so you can check those....

Portable DVD player not spinning says no disc

Check to see if the disc is spinning. You can do this by one of two ways either
  • a:) Listen for the disc to spin after inserting it or
  • b:) Place disk in drive right way up (so that the label is not upside down). Load the disc and eject the disc again to se if the disc has moved i.e. the writing may now be upside down.
If the disc does not spin then it is likely that there is something wrong with the disc motor. If it does spin then the issue is more likely to be with the laser unit. Try cleaning the lens but if this doesn't help it's likely to be a more serious and ultimately more expensive problem.

Hope this helps
