The power button is stuck in the down position and will not pop back up or turn on the unit. Taking the small button cover off accomplished nothing. I haven't seen any way of removing the panel. Is this something that can be fixed by customer?
To fix the power button, which is stuck down or does not spring back up....remove the panel which has the all the buttons and the power button, the panel does not have any screws to remove, you got the pull it out from the lower side and move slowly towards the top. Once the panel is free, you will see that the power button is connected with a small plastic connector which would be broken, fix the broken piece or get a new piece and the problem is fixed........
I have the same problem and would welcome support to rectify this problem. My button has come off, does not appear to be broken but wont go back on. I have to unplug it each time I need to turn it off.
I have the same problem as well. The power button stays down and won't spring back up. The printer is relatively new. Can't see how to get the cover off without breaking something. HP website useless. People we bought it from useless. Anyone can help?
Mine just did the same thing! I was able to get it open without breaking anything, (was not easy) and there is no way to fix it at all. What the heck? I got this printer about 1.5 years ago, but I don't use it often so it should be running just fine. Anyone have solutions?
Jenn I have the same problem how did you open the plastic top to expose the switch?
I had the same problem. After removing the cover (difficult) there appeared to be no on off butoon just the bukb which would have come on when the printer is on.

1. Turn off the all-in-one.
2. Press and hold down the * and buttons.
3. Continue to hold down the buttons while you turn on the all-in-one. Hold the buttons throughout
the entire power-on sequence.
4. When Permanent Storage Init. appears on the control-panel display, release the buttons.
5. Allow the all-in-one to return to Ready before using it.
After following these instructions, when you restart, unit should prompt you to select a language. Use the left right arrow keys to select proper langauge and press checkmark to accept.

Once it resets it will prompt you to set the language, use the arrow keys to select English and then press the checkmark. Unit will restart in English mode.

Has the question by Susan Hunter been answered? She asked if the power button situation on an HP Deskjet 3050 can be repaired by customer? I have the same issue and could not see any way to repair it.
