I took my wrist watch to a jeweler for a new battery but have been unable to re-set the time, although both the jeweler and I tried alternately for two weeks to make it work. May I return the watch to you for adjustment, repair, or what ever it needs to make it work properly again because I have really enjoyed this watch more than any of my lifetime. RSVP, Urias Tidwell

Can you fix my watch? The "First Street" ad I purchased it from said it would last for centuries.

Sorry, but Fixya doesn't actually fix things itself, despite the name. Fixya dispenses advice instead, so hopefully there is a watchmaker here who can do that.

It does sound as though the watch is not repairable, although you can go to a second opinion from another repairer. I looked at the Atomic advertisement, and it seemed to me like grand claims for a not very good watch.

Hi, My Tissot touch watch quit, it was just over 2 yrs old, and I took it to the local Jewelry Store that sold them. They sent it off to their Jeweler and he replaced the battery. Now the watch keeps...

If the Jewellery Store was not an Authorised Tissot Repair Centre then it is likely that they have made a mistake - the T-Touch is the only watch in the world that has a touch screen - so they may not be very familiar with it.
It may be going into setup mode because there has been a new battery just installed - go through the procedure and see if it works. - Pretend it is like brand new and you have to set it up for the first time.

Stopwatch second hand stops/jams at 57 seconds point jamming the whole works. Watch stops. Keeps excellent time otherwise if stopwatch not used. 2003 ss model. Bought new from rolex.

This may sound obvious but it needs to be repaired by a jeweler/watch repair shop. Although it is possible that the stop watch second hand is out of sync it would usually mean that the stop watch is starting at 3 seconds before 00:00 for 57 stop. If that's the case you should be able to readjust the start/stop position by pulling the crown out to 1st or 2nd position and then pressing the stop watch start stop buttons. One press, one position. Although I am not certain of the exact sequence.
However if you are unsure or it starts at the 00:00 position you need to find a jeweler you can trust to do the work. Check out a few places and ask to see the credentials of the watch repair person then compare and make an informed decision. Don't just use the jeweler at purchase point.
Most times, if it's a simple repair, like readjusting the hands a good jeweler will do it for nothing.

Good luck

I had the battery changed in my watch at a watch repair store. Ever since then my watch won't connect with the time signal and reset itself to the current date and time.

I had a similar problem with my Casio watch when I changed the battery. I put it to one side and used another one and eventually it re-set itself (it took some days I think, although I wasn't watching it too closely.

I suggest a lot of patient waiting!

I have a new Carter Roadster with a metal band. It needs to be adjusted to be smaller. Any ideas?

Take it to a competent watchmaker, (phonebook, internet search, etc.) not a jeweler although a Cartier jeweler would be able to assist you.

Cannot set

Every battery replacement includes watch reset as well. If it was not done properly by watchmaker, then you are eligible for full refund and even can ask to fix the watch, as it was in working order before you gave it to jeweller.
This will not solve the problem, but at least it will make you feel better.
Next time you need the battery replacement, find the nearest watchmakers shop - not the jeweller. They are usually under one roof, but the trades are completely different and no jeweller can do the watchmakers job, as this takes years of learning and training.
Do not forget to rate, please.

Unable to charge battery

This sounds like the battery bneeds replacing. Without a certain amount of charge to maintain the internal chemistry, batteries of this type can fail relatively quickly. Any good jeweller should be able to get you a new battery, if not please post again and we will try to find one for you. Hope this helps :)
