Lock out problem

The control panel is locked. on the control panel, there will be either a "lock" button that you hold down for 3-5 seconds to unlock, or it will have "lock" in small letters with a line pointing to 2 of the option buttons. hold the 2 buttons it points to for 3-5 seconds and it will unlock. the control lock is a child safty feature that will not allow any the washer to work until it is unlocked. P.S. to put the control panel into the lock mode, is the same way as you unlock the control panel.

Hello, there is no way to lock the keypad like one would a cell phone to prevent the accidental pushing of buttons. However if you are listening to a transmission and you want to stop it on the frequency it is at so you don't miss any of the conversation simply push "man" (manual) on your keypad and it will remain on that frequency until you hit "scan" again. Once you hit "scan" it will begin to trunk. The "lock" button on your scanner is to lock the lights on so they don't shut off in **** a short time. Hope this helps.

If you are under Windows 7 , it's because HP doesn't produce anymore drivers for your unit beyond VISTA .
Download the latest driver available from here : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=77368&
and try running your scanner with it . If you don't succeed , try in compatibility mode .
If it still doesn't work please don't blame me , blame HP .

If there is no frequencies on your scanner it will lock all channels out. if all your frequencies are on one bank and you accidentally hit that bank number and turn it off it will lock out all channels. If that's the case just hit that bank no. back on and they will unlock.

If you haven't already done so, while scanning in the PRIVATE mode, turn the SQUELCH control down slowly until scanning stops and you hear a hissing noise. Then turn the SQUELCH up slowly until scanning resumes. This should set the threshold so that the scanner will stop on an active frequency.

I've got a couple of options you might consider:
1. You may be in "manual" mode & the scanner's locked onto one frequency (one that obviously doesn't have much happening on it if you're not hearing anything!). Try pressing the "Scan" button, which will take it out of Manual mode.
2. You've accidentally "initialized" the scanner which means all of your frequencies have been deleted (sort of like wiping your hard drive clean). If that's what's happened, you'll need to re-enter all of your frequencies.

Thanks for using FixYa. If you fail to enter the correct code eight (8) times, the radio goes into INOP mode. You have to wait an hour with the ignition on before the radio returns to LOC mode (go for a long drive somewhere).

After that the the radio will go to LOC mode, then follow this procedure to unlock it—

To unlock the car radio - Have a pen and paper ready. Push and hold stereo preset buttons 2 and 3 simultaneously for several seconds. Three digits will appear in the display "XXX", write them down. Push the AM/FM button, three more digits will appear in display "YYY", write them down.

Press 1 then # (pound). You’ll hear “Invalid Code, try again”

Press 139010 then # (pound). You will be asked to enter your four or six digit code followed by * (start)

Enter the six didgit number obtained from above procedure.

Listen to the four-digit number and write it down. It will be repeated twice

Turn the ignition ON (The radio displays LOC)

Use the MN and HR buttons to enter the $ digit code that you have heard.

Press the AM/FM button. The radio display changes to SEC. Your radio is now “un-locked” and usable. The Theft-Deterrent feature is STILL active! If you want to disable it, use the instruction in Owner’s manual.

Many scanners contain a scanning head lock to keep the scanning head from moving during shipping. This may still be still be in the lock position. All scanners are different but check the documentation on how to remove the head lock.

Hi, It sounds to me like your keypad is locked. Pg 63 of your manual.
***using the keylock ***
Once you program your scanner, you can protect it from accidental program changes by turning on the key lock feature. When the keypad is locked, the only controls that operate are FUNC, key , SQ, and VOL. You cannot activate the keylock while you are entering a frequency into a channel. To turn on the keylock, press FUNC then key . Key locked appears for about 1 second. Key locked appears when you press any key after locking the keypad.
To turn off the keylock, press FUNC then key . The scanner beeps three times and Key unlocked appears.
The only other choice I see if that does not work would be to initialize it. Pg 84 of your manual. Hope this helps you,, Mechanic
