Suppose that the current one-year rate (one-year spot rate) and expected one-year T-bill rates over the following three years (i.e., years 2, 3, and 4, respectively) are as follows: 1R1 = 6 %, E(2r1) = 7 %, E(3r1) = 7.5 % E(4r1) = 7.85 %

Have an older Sharp EL-1801Piii. I need to program a tax rate of .08917. How do I do that?

Here is the manual link

Press CTRL+F Type in 'tax' top right, press Enter. Scroll through the 19 mentions, Number 3 shows it. Copied and pasted below, but it doesn't show symbol image. The first paragraph covers getting into setting mode and setting date and time, then comes 'Tax Rate'.

The following problem is not difficult, however, I am having trouble calculating the answer using my HP 12c Platinum. Can you please provide a step by step explantation of how to calculate the answer to...

1. Make sure the HP-12C is in compounding mode. Press STO-EEX repeatedly until a tiny "C" appears in lower right of display.
2. Make sure "BEGIN" is NOT shown in the display. If it is, press g-END.
3. Clear financial registers: f-FIN. (That is really the "f" key then kind of the "Clear FIN" key -- I'm sure you'll see it.)
4. Enter zero as "initial investment". CLx, then g-CF0. (You have to do this because the 12C actually computes the "NPV" as an excess or deficit over the entered "initial investment". By entering zero, you force the calculator to just give you the actual net present value.)
5. Your first cash flow is +2.00. So, enter 2.00, then press g-CFj.
6. Next cash flow: +2.10. Enter 2.1, then press g-CFj.
7. Last cash flow: +22.20 (the final value of the stock plus the last dividend payment). Enter 22.20, then press g-CFj.
8. Enter the 10% interest (a.k.a. discount) rate. Enter 10, then press "i".
9. Compute the NPV. Press g-NPV. The answer is indeed 20.23 (at least to two decimal places).

I have a holiday timer LW28080. Following instructions to the letter the unit did not go on at the set time. The manual works but not the timer. Does the time actually have to start on the first day...

LW28080 is NCC brand digital power center.
Copy following link to identify timer and download manual
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#0050024
Programming should start on the day you selected for Program 1 ON. So if Tues was selected, timer should start Tuesday.

Use paper clip, and push in Reset button for 2 seconds. Repeat. Always reset digital timers before programming to clear memory glitches.

Plug timer in for 10 minutes to charge battery.
Be sure to set current time with correct day, hour am-pm and minute.
Each ON program requires OFF program
Set program 1 ON and then set program 1 OFF.
Make sure selected day(s) of operation match for both ON and OFF settings.
Check am-pm conflicts in programming.
Avoid 12:00, to avoid am-pm confusion. Use 12:01 or 11:59
Avoid programming overlaps and conflicts that cause timer not to function as expected.

When programming is finished, press current time button to return to current time.
It appears timer is ready for programmed operation at this point.
Install Mi-MH battery that comes with timer.
Do not exceed watt rating.
This timer comes with 1 year limited warranty and can be expected to last 1 or 2 seasons, and probably quit season 3.

Need 2 add more mem

Hi BBrown,

There is an excellent step-by-step guide here

http://www.computermemoryupgrade.net/installing-laptop-memory.html

However, you NEED to find out what exact model of Gateway laptop you have to make sure that the RAM modules that you buy will work with your laptop since there are physical limitations to make sure you don't install the incorrect types.

For example, there's SDRAM (associated with Pentium III laptops from 10 years ago) and three generations of Dual Data-Rate memory (DDR for short).

DDR3 would be used in current laptops (maybe up to 2 years old), DDR2 (2-6 years old) and of course, Pentium4 era DDR as well,

Hope the helps

I have a fuse problem it went out after 2 years and put a new 1 in it lasted 5 mo. anouther new 1 it lasted three weeks. Can i put in a stronger fuse?

If a fuse is blowing, it's usually caused by a short somewhere and is intended to prevent further damage or a potential electrical fire. It's generally safe to use a fuse rated for ~10% more current, but if it still blows out, I'd recommend taking it in for service. A higher rated fuse will have no bearing on the normal operation of the TV.

I need to calculate NPV for the following: beginning of year payments of 15,700 / 4 years / 9% borrowing rate. I was told the answer is 55,441.33, but that's not what my calculator gives me. What am I...

Did you take into account that you have beginning of the year payements? Your calculator probably treats it as an end-of-the-year payment? Did you try treating the first payement as an initial cash flow (should be available as an option in your calculator input) and the treat the three remaining years as end of the year payements at your 9% rate. It should do it.

Low Heat from GE XL44 gas range

you can increase the sides of the flames by opening the orifices, if not differences. make the orifices holes a bit bigger, you can have as big of a flame as you want. those orifices are at the connection of the burner with the valve that supplies gas to the burners.
