Nikon d60 will not take pictures. the battery have a full charge and it will even focus, but it make a grinding sound and will not take the picture.

it may be the focus resetting to its start position for the next picture..

since the camera has many adjustment, Read carefully the owner manual and go to the section troubleshooting and see the different adjust need for to fix it problem

There's a diopter adjustment control near the right edge of the viewfinder. Look through the viewfinder at a blank wall and adjust this until the focus marks appear sharp.

Some reasons for this may be the Memory card is full, locked, or not inserted,or

• Flash is charging.

• Camera is not in focus.

• CPU lens with aperture ring attached without locking aperture

at highest f-number.
• Non-CPU lens is attached: rotate camera mode dial to D

Yes it is compatible with Nikon D60.

I would start with a freshly formatted memory card. Erasing images leaves folders and other unneeded data on the card which can slow the write speed down considerably. Secondly, make sure the front and rear elements of the lens are spotlessly clean. The auto focus works best (faster) if it can see the subject with perfect clarity.

Is your battery ok? Are you using a slow card? Is the card full of pictures?

Is your battery weak or old? Is your memory card almost full? The more pictures on the card, the slower it gets.

There are 2 possibilities. The viewfinder lenses are dirty or, depending on the model, there is an adjuster, right at the viewfinder, to adjust the focus of the viewfinder. It has NOTHING to do with the picture, only the viewfinder.
