Soap dispenser not working

The soap dispenser door has a spring inside under the pastic that opens it when the timer says it's time for soap.
Sometimes the spring can become disconnected.
Sometimes the plastic part the spring connects to gets broken.
Sometimes the door's pivot point becomes gummed up so bad the spring is no longer strong enough to open the door.
Sometimes solenoid (which works like the electric door unlocker in a car) doesn't work.
Sometimes the timer gets broken and doesn't tell the solenoid when to open the door.

If you start taking out screws around the door to see what is going on inside, unplug the dishwasher first.

The soap dispenser at times does not open during the wash cycle. When the cycle is complete and the front door is opened the soap dispenser is either stil closed or at time is open with the soap still...

Check the way you're loading your dishwasher. Sometimes large plates or baking pans can block the door of the dispenser. The latch unlocks but because the door is blocked, the detergent can't get out. Once you open the main door, the dispenser door may pop open and looks as if it has been in the fully opened position when it was actually held in place by that large utensil!Cutting boards are major blockers as well.

Soap not dissolving. Dishes aren't clean. All else seems to operate ok - water is hot, sounds like it is working as normal, all filters appear clean, but not washing effectively.

is the soap dispensing door opening? there is a small switch which sometimes likes to fly south makeing the door not open on the soap dispenser when this happens you would need to replace the soap dispenser assembly or if your able to find the switch that is on the dispensor and the part is actually sold seperately from the dispensor then you would replace that switch. you would need to take the screws off on the inside of the door and seperate the two panels the outter from the inner the inner panel is the one that houses the soap dispenser. You can do a continuity test with the unit unplugged to assure that the switch is working properly. if you have any further questions message me back and please remember when our chat has fully concluded to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations Thanks Rick,

The detergent compartment on our dishwasher will open during operation. We have run the dishwasher three times and the detergent capsule remains in the compartment and is only partially dissolved. It...

Hi

Dishwashers use Bi-Metal strip to allow the dispenser to open/close. This strip when heat up causes the soap door spring to open up the dispenser. If this strip is not heated doesn't allow the door to open. The strip may not be getting 120V or maybe disconnected. Newer (plastic liner) dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger inside the wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if this wax motor doesn't receive 120 volts, then it'll not work. Please check the voltage to the wax motor/Bi-metal strip; also inspect the connections to these.

Hope this helps...

Detergent tablet not dissolving.

sometimes the dispenser doors are not designed for tablets, and they don't let enough water in to dissolve them....next time you wash; put the tablet in one of the silverware compartments....should do the trick. and leave the dispenser door for liquid detergents only.

if this is helpful please click the correct button. thanks

Detergent does not dissolve.

Make sure that the water supply going to the dishwasher is HOT. Detergent will not disolve in cold water.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher 630 1630 9400 Soap Dispenser Problem

From your description even when the soap dispenser opens it is opening late which is why all the soap does not dissolve.

Try adding only half as much soap and see if it opens then - even a little spilled soap catching on that little latch mechanism can cause it to be difficult to close and stick opening.

Also make sure that the spring that controls the door is not broken.

Dishwasher

2 things will lead to soap not dissolving, first is cold water, so make sure you have hot enough water. second and more likely is the dispenser is not opening at the proper time , instead fully opens at end of cycle during the dry cycle never even getting wet, and washing dishes with no soap, id replace the dispenser or make sure your not stacking items in front of dispenser hindering the opening. also powder is best, tabs and gelpack put undo stress on the dispenser door not always allowing full operation...
