My dvd player has just stopped playing disc's? I insert a disc, it loads up as the little circle comes up, saying loading. Then it says bad disc.It stops. Does anyone know what could be wrong here?

Couple things could be. I've found : the disc can be dirty, wipe it off. Or if its damaged the lens won't read it.
What usually helps the most is to put a lens cleaner in the player. they sell them. I only have a CD cleaner ( prob called lens cleaner). It still fixes it for me.

Laser dirty or faulty. Try it with a different audio CD. Usually its easier to replace the whole thing than to take it apart and change the laser unit.

Hello
Either your DVD players Laser Pickup Unit is dirty or defective or its 'sled' motor has damaged. Sled motor is one, which spins the disc inside. if it does not spins, the main system IC won't get any signal that the disc is "IN", and will show the messege "No Disc". The same will happen if the laser pickup unit is defective or dirty. Insert a Head Cleaning Disc into the system, and play it for atleast 3 times. If there is any dirt or dust, this will solve your DVD's problem. If not, it should be serviced by any skilled technician. It is not a user reparable item, as you have to take out its loading mechanism completly out of it for repair. OK.

you have probably to clean up your dvd player with a clean up CD. After that if your dvd player doesn't want to read a dvd but play a cd, your laser output must be to fix. you'll have to go to a specialist.
