Maytag Neptune front load will turn on then off in 3 seconds....

Neptune finished a wash load. Upon the very next load, machine was loaded, door full closed and set for Cold/cold and Delicate cycle but when start was pressed, it locked the door for 3 seconds then unlocked it. Not much time for water to get in. Pressed start again, same 3 second lock/unlock cycle, but no more water... Help ;>(

The cleaning process for your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer, for example, requires some time and patience. Over time, your washing machine will need to be cleaned. It can develop offensive odors through multiple wash cycles. This makes the washing machine less effective at cleaning the clothes you put into it. Maytag offers some sound advice for cleaning your front-loading washing machine.

  • Pour 2/3 cup of liquid chlorine bleach into the bleach compartment of the dispenser drawer of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer.

    Run your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer on the "Clean Washer" setting. Press "Start" to start the cycle.

    Leave the door open once the cycle is complete to allow the inside of your Maytag Neptune front-loading washer to ventilate and air dry.

    Look closely at the gray seal of the Maytag Neptune front-loading washer's door opening. This seal can have a buildup of debris or detergent residue.

    Spray the seal with an all-purpose appliance cleaner and scrub away any debris or residue with a cloth or scrubbing pad. Dry with a clean cloth.

    Remove the soap dispenser drawer. Press the release lever and lift it out to clean.

    Take out the inserts and rinse them and the drawer thoroughly.

    Wash with a mild soap and cloth to remove any residue. Dry thoroughly before replacing.

    If you get the FL how do you get the door to open??
    1. Your Maytag Neptune washing machine displays error codes, also called "help codes," to identify specific problems with your washer. Once you close your Maytag Neptune's door, the machine locks the door, goes through the selected wash cycles and unlocks the door when the laundry is finished. Error codes appear when there are problems with the door, the inflow and drainage of water and the motor.

    2. Your Maytag Neptune washer displays the "do" help code when the washing machine is trying to start a cycle, but the door is open or not locked properly. If this message is displayed, close the door securely and restart the washing cycle.
      3. FL
    3. The "FL" code indicates that the washing machine was unable to lock the door after you closed it. Open and close the door tightly, then restart the washing cycle.
      4. Sd
    4. The "Sd" code indicates that you have added too much detergent to the washing machine and your laundry has too many suds. The machine will stop displaying this code if it has successfully run the suds recovery cycle, which removes the excess suds from the wash load. If the code remains, reduce the amount of detergent in the load. Use less detergent for similar loads of laundry in the future.

    5. The "PF" code indicates that a power failure has occurred. Restart the wash cycle. If the code still appears, check that the washing machine is still plugged in to the electrical outlet.

    6. The "nd" code indicates that your Maytag Neptune is not draining as it should. Check that the drain hose isn't kinked and that the stand pipe isn't clogged. If you find either of these problems, fix them before restarting the washing cycle.

Verify that the door is closed properly, push the "Off" button, and wait two minutes. The door should unlock and the error code will disappear.     Here is a link to some pictures to open the washer. In picture 11, you will see a green plastic line in the middle of the picture. This is the emergency release for the door. If you pull this line the door will open.

    the water in the unit is normal, to kill the smell when you are done doing wash for the day dampen a rag with bleach and whip down the door gasket. You can buy a cleaner called "afresh" it works as well. If your unit is a neptune check with maytag it might have a recall on the door gasket for growing mould

    you have mold built up around the door boot. you need to buy a package of a product called AFRESH (3 tablets in it). follow the directions on the package. use one a month for maintenance on this machine. also, make sure you do one or two hot washes per month to keep the hoses cleaned from build up of soap and or fabric softener. leave the door open a little bit after each load.

    check your power cord...you may need to replace it...or just tighten the screws that hold it in place. It is very easy to do, if I can do, so can you!! You can order a part on line or from a local repair shop.

    Maytag front loader washer--door won't open but lock light off
    Open the soap dispenser. Look down in front of the fabric softener dish.
    You should see a yellowy-green plastic cord (like weed-whacker line). Pull it.
    The door should open.

    If you don't see the cord, remove the four screws that hold the dispenser lid in place to find it. Just don't lose it when you put the cover back on.
