My Father's desktop Compaq Presario SR1750NX will not turn on and when the power cord is in there is a green light that's on and its not blinking its just on and my father and i continue to push the on/off switch. Can you help?

i would remove power and blow out the dust in the fan and then power it back up but i am gussing you have bad power supply. these are easy to replace and you can get the power supply model number and order one online

Tower won't turn on. There is a green light on the back near the power cord that's flashing green.

Pull the power cord out and allow it to reset. If you still have issues you may need to replace your power supply.

try removing all power cables of your computer that are connected to the surge protector. reset the surge protector. wait for about 5 minuets before you turn on the surge protector. then plug all cables that your remove from your computer the turn on the computer.

Check small switch on pwer supply (red) make sure it is in the 115 volt area. Sorry if this does not work sounds like a bad power supply...

i worked for hp and compaq it is well known issue to reslove this issue

1#turn off the computer and uplug the power cable from the computer and then hold the power button for 20 second then turn on the computer and the momment you back to desktop screen

is that a pci sound card or the one on the motherboard ?

if it is the internal one... go to www.compaq.com and support... then enter the model number or have it autodetect your computer... install the sound driver for your operating system.

Won't power up!

I would say yes, the power supply needs to be replaced. It is a cheap and easy fix.

One thing to check would be the capasitors around the CPU. If any are corroded or bulging then the motherboard will need to be replaced.
