My Father's desktop Compaq Presario SR1750NX will not turn on and when the power cord is in there is a green light that's on and its not blinking its just on and my father and i continue to push the on/off switch.

i would remove power and blow out the dust in the fan and then power it back up but i am gussing you have bad power supply. these are easy to replace and you can get the power supply model number and order one online good luck
try removing all power cables of your computer that are connected to the surge protector. reset the surge protector. wait for about 5 minuets before you turn on the surge protector. then plug all cables that your remove from your computer the turn on the computer.
is that a pci sound card or the one on the motherboard ?
if it is the internal one... go to www.compaq.com and support... then enter the model number or have it autodetect your computer... install the sound driver for your operating system.
