Daughter's TV was on during bad electrical storm. Screen went black and made high pitched sound. cable, internet and telephones all digital through Time Warner Cable. Now TV will not even turn on; telephone is out; and internet is out. TV in bedroom with cable still works fine. She thinks lightning struck TV b/c won't work in other outlets either. Bought brand new TV today and it won't turn on either. What could this be? we are missing something??!! help.

Hi, I have a Samsung LN40A550 LCD TV which I have had for just over a year. ... Is your TV plugged into a surge protector? If not it very well may have gotten a power surge during the lightening storm that fried components in the TV.
Or is the TV connected to a cable box? It could be that the cable box took the hit if it's not plugged into a surge protector.
Or a possibility of both.

A high pitch sound can be a capacitor losing power it would sound a bit like a fire work. most have back up on the board but it put more pressure on them the more times you use the tv. would check them and replace. all of them can be 5 in a row in some models.

Change the input to some other you are sure works. Then if the problem persists, this might need attention by a qualified service technician.

it is problem power supply some of components are demage such as capacitor or diod is bad. You go to a service centre and repear it by a good technician

My Daughter has the same problem with hers. That high pitch noise your hearing is coming from
a transformer on the inside it means the transformer went bad and has to be replaced.I hope this helps a little.
