MY BROADBAND TISCALI LINE IS WORKING THOUGH

  • Anonymous Jan 07, 2009

When I turn on my computer which is connected to broadband, our phones will not receive calls, nor can we dial out. I have tried unplugging everything and putting on new filters - no go.

It was working fine but only suddenly developed this problem.

Have purchased this producct plugged it in no ringtone no flashing to indicate incoming call have operational line with dialing tone, help please asap as only line into work

I am assuming that you can hear dial tone on the handset, and you can make calls on the phone. If this is correct, then I would recommend contacting BT and getting the phone replaced with one that works. http://www.bt.com/help/home/landline.html

Cancel bt house phone but keep my internet

Unless there's cable in your area, you've had it. You cannot get broadband supplied to a dead telephone line.

Alternatively, consider MiFi (4G to a special router).

Caller display doesn't work

From the BT website...

"If you are using your phone on a broadband line make sure you fit an ADSL microfilter between the telephone line cord and the telephone socket."
I'm guessing you have one on the landline, probably next to the router but not the handset base :-)

Bt hub 2.0, the internet light is red, but the telephone line works, although it's very noisy/crackly. have changed the micro filters but still cannot connect to the internet.

It sounds like you have a fault on your phone line which is affecting the performance of your broadband.

As long as you haven't added any more phones to your house without a splitter, then I would go with the problem being your phone line.

You might want to give BT Broadband (assuming you have BT broadband with the BT Hub) on 0800 111 4567 they will be able to advise you further, failing that, you may need to log a call with BT about the phone line itself, which is just 151 from the line that you are having problems with. It is always best to phone from the line that you are having problems with, so they can hear that there are problems with the line.

Hope that this information helps! :)

I use AOL as my ISP, with British Telecom supplying my telephone line rental. On Friday 2nd my internet connection kept dropping out, and then eventually stopped connecting altogether. My original router...

If BT tested the phone line is OK but did AOL test the connection to the Netgear router and get the IP address of your Netgear router.
The phone connection is OK but the ADSL connection from the telephone exchange may not be working, that is why you are not getting an ADSL light.

Sometimes i cannot get connection to the internet and sometimes it is working fine. i tried loading new firmware v1.19 and i still have the same problem

Hi

It may be something to do with interferance within your own home, or if you are running broadband through a BT line, you may be towards the further part of the exchange and therefore your broadband signal drops when other users come online. A basic line has a ratio of 50:1 meaning 50 other users can be sharing the same connection as you.

Make sure mobile phones, cordless phones, microwaves etc are out of the way of the connection and if all else fails contact your ISP.

Thanks

If you have a phone that works off a broadband modem, that is a VoIP phone. That will not work with a home phone line. I'm assuming Verizon is your local Telephone carrier that provides your local dial tone.
The broadband modem would have the phone number of whatever VoIP phone service you have.

BT phone and broadband from sky...ok i cant make or receive phone calls.bt say that they checked the line and it shows no faults..ive tried different phones on line but no joy, interactive on sky box also...

Not a total solution, but a reason , perhaps.

I have both BroadBand and Telephone from BT.

In the past they always billed you with one bill. also if your phone was cut off due to lack off payment so the BB went off also.

they have now split their billing system - and services- into two separate identities, meaning that the phone could be cut off for calls yet your Broadband will still work and vice versa.

So, i would say the problem lies with BT , even though you have ordered your BB from Sky they still have to ask BT to setup your service at the exchange. It seems that they have not checked your service for both BB and phone.

I recently had my phone cut off (BT's 'direct debit 'accident'!) but my BB worked throughout the fortnight it took them to resolve where my paid bill money was!..

So. Call your main service provider (that would be Sky if you get no bills from BT) and tell them your phone service has most certainly NOT been activated.

I recently spent 17 hours over 3 days speaking to 23 customer assistants, before reaching a manager who resolved a similar issue for me at BT.

Under their new setup BB personel cannot see your phone account and phone personel cannot see your BB account - and we get charged over 1/3rd more for this mayhem . their reason explained to me as "having everything on one bill was confusing some customers so you now have two accounts and two bills for everything" !!

your socket is fine as you have enough connection for BB which takes more bandwidth than a voice line.

Basically you have some corporate customer service red tape to hack through.

Good luck
