Uniden DCT646-2 Cordless Phone Questions & Answers
No dial tone
try pulling the batteries out for 24 hours and then putting them back in. It should reset all the software and it should sync back up.
Uniden 5.8ghz master to sync a Uniden 6.0 slave
No. Your base works on the 5.8GHz band, while your DECT 6.0 handset works on the 1.9GHz band using a completely different protocol. The two are completely different technologies. It would be like trying to read a videotape using a DVD player.
I can hear caller but they can't hear me
I had the same problem with two of these handsets.
I am not certain of the cause, but based on the fix, I believe water got into the microphone holes and perhaps mixed with a water soluble glue that stuck the felt cover to the microphone.
I fixed the problem by removing the battery, opening up the phone (slide the battery cover off and removed the 4 screws) and snapped open the plastic encasement. Then I remove the two screws toward the top (toward antenna) of the circuit board.
This gave me access to the microphone which is on the underside of the circuit board (very bottom of the phone, below and on the opposite side of the plastic jumper for the battery) which had a thin black felt cover covered in a sticky residue that was covering the microphone diaphragm. I removed the felt and then used a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol to remove the residue from the diaphgragm. I used compressed dry air to remove any dust from the diaphgram.
With the 2 screws, I secured the circuit board back in, snapped the plastic case back together. Then I finished off with putting 4 screws in the case and putting the battery in.
Now other parties can hear me just like they used to when the phone was working.
Why can't anyone hear me talk on the other end?
Hello,
The reason, no one can hear you on the other end is simply because there is a problem with the mouth piece of your phone.
It must have fallen or hit a hard object so the mouth piece is faulty.
You can use an external earpiece for the time being before you get the mouth piece replaced.
Replacing the mouth piece, you need to get a compatible replacement mouthpiece then unscrew the phone, try to get to the mouth piece and disconnect it from the phone and replace it with the new one you get for it.
Take care and good luck
I can hear caller but
Most likely, your phone is set to MUTE. Unfortunately, there are different ways of disabling the mute, depending on the model of your Uniden phone.
Check your owner's manual to see if it tells you how to cancel the MUTE function. Look in the troubleshooting section as well.
Thank you and good luck!
The phones have caller id and it works except not
You'll need to call your phone company. (Qwest, BellSouth, SBC, it depends on where you live)
Call Waiting ID (or CID-on-Call-Waiting) is a separate feature, possibly with an extra monthly charge, but possibly it just needs a free activation
Can't get if off MUTE
Check your owner's manual to see if it tells you how to cancel the MUTE function. Look in the troubleshooting section as well.
