A tech support rep asked me to check to make sure Spotlight is ignoring your mounted Tomtom GPS device. Once I excluded it from Spotlight, the problem went away.

I read thru this,, created a back up, reformatted,, HINT.. when removing your device from your computer, go to tools> remove device ( or whatever is says) that is the safest way

That's a sign the unit cannot find the operating system and is usually caused by removing the unit from the connection before all data had been written to memory. Do not detach when TTHome says it is safe to disconnect. Rather, wait till the unit boots to the screen asking about connecting to computer. Say 'no' and then you can shut down and remove the unit. - some more info..

Gps shows a blue screen with a picture of the tom tom with a red X on the screen flashing. what do i need to do?

Assuming that your Tomtom is a Go910 or similar:
The normal solution for this problem is to reset your device.
This is done by pressing the reset button (usually found at the rear of the device) for a at least 15 seconds.
Once you have done this, turn your machine on and the red cross should have gone.

Tom tom go 910 red cross flashing wont re set

Well i am writing this wile I am trying this out...
I have a TomTom Go 910 that has a RED CROSS FLASHING on the bottom corner, what I have found is that if you have backed up your TomTom Go i maybe able to reset the TomTom Go on my computer but if you havent you may have to find on try finding one on google but i have a TomTom Go 910 you can download the 910 on http://rapiddigger.com/download/backup-go-910-rar-9110176/.

after you found the back-up you can connect your TomTom Go to your computer using the USB provided from your TomTom Go, replace the doggie file with the new one, then this should change it back to the FIRST update given...

(WARNING >> PLEASE scan the file befor you put it in your TomTom Go it might contain a very very evil virus<< WARNING)

Tom tom go 910

TOM Tom no charge and will not turn on
leave on charge for two hours, then with the SD card out hold down the reset button at the back of unit for ten seconds and then the 'on' switch for ten seconds.
STEP 1
Connect your TomTom to your
computer True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif via USB and open up your Windows Explorer and go to the drive. (It will be listed as TOMTOM (E) or some other drive letter).
Copy the Yellow Folders one by one to your PC. Ideally, save all the folders under a new folder that you name.
You may find that the folder ttntools and gns may not be copied. This is o.k. if they aren't.
STEP 2
Format your Tomtom via MY Computer.
STEP 3
Copy the Yellow Folders from the
backup True True (``````````` (``````````` 0 95250 95250 clip_image002.gif you made in STEP 1 back to the TomTom.
STEP 4
Open TomTom Home
Click on Upate Now.
Install the latest update onto your TomTom.
Once installed, switch your TomTom off, then disconnect if from the PC.
Thats it. From now on, make a full backup using TomTom Home prior to any updates.
Also note, that copying all the files will take some time.
