Code op flashes with a beeping sound

I feel you have lost signaling thru the Left Hand Lid Lock.

See this post to get you started; Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting

You could also have a Lid Magnet out of posistion. Try placing a couple of ring magnets over the left hand bumper with the lid open and see if the OP error code clears.

od meaning from the Service Manual for the FAV6800A/FAV9800A;
Open the Lid: The lid has not been opened for the last three completed cycles.

Why does it say "op" when i press the start button?

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

I feel you have lost signaling from the Left Hand Lid Lock for Lid is Open/ Lid is Closed.

First check is to place a magnet over the Left Hand grey bumper and while watching the LED display see if the OP error code clears. If it does you have a lid magnet out of position. See the Service Manual for access to the Lid Magnet.

See Pic;

If an external magnet over the Left Hand grey bumper doesn’t clear the OP error code with the lid open then See this Link for troubleshooting Left Hand Lid Lock Troubleshooting. I discuss the OD error code but the OP error code troubleshooting is very similar. If the lid Magnet is not out of position then I feel you have a broken lead at the Magnetic Reed relay or severe corrosion issues with the Left Hand Lid Lock preventing Lid Open/Lid Closed status signaling to the Control Board in the Console.

Op is flashing when i try to start a load

For the FAV6800A or the FAV9800A you have lost Lid is Open/Lid Is Closed signaling from the Left Hand Lid Lock assembly via the Magnetic Reed relay in that assembly or corrosion of the pins in that assembly. Take a look as Solution #2 in this post. I cover the possible issues that would cause the OP alarm. I think you will find corrosion has caused the black wire on the magnetic reed relay switch to break off. Just a WAG but look at the post and do some checking. I will help you just post back with any questions…..Rich aka dh1200s

My maytag will not start it keeps beeping and the letter od keeps flashing

This is telling you it is getting a signal that the door is open.
If it is securely shut - the door latch, or switch is faulty.

Maytag Neptune keeps giving us the OP signal

Hello Kristi,
If its FAV6800A/FAV9800A try placing couple 1” dia magnets or similar magnet on the left bumper of the machine and see if that will clear the the “OP” lid open alarm, see pic attached. If that clears the alarm the lid magnet may have moved out of position in the inner lid. See page 33 of the FAV6800A/9800A Service Manual for its location. If that doesn’t clear the “OP” alarm remove 120VAC to the machine and try reseating the left lid lock plug into the left lid lock a few times to possible clear corrosion causing loss of signaling from the left lid lock to the control board Lid Is Closed input. See page 33 and 34 of the SM for pics if the left lid lock and lid magnet. I recommend surge protection on the120VAC outlet powering the machine to help protect the washer control board. Good luck Rich.
Place some external magnets on left bumper and see if that will clear the "OP" alarm.

Try reseating the left lid lock plug into the left lid lock. Be careful, it may be difficult to remove for the 1st time.
