My dvd player wont release the tray, wont come out

Have a look for an emergency release for the disc tray. Its usually a very small pin hole somewhere near the front of the player. Poke a needle or paperclip in and the tray should release.

Look for a little pin hole, put in needle and tray should open, this is an emergency way to release tray.

Open out a paper clip and insert it in the little eject hole on plastic tray cover and push gently until it ejects.

If the Sony DVP-NS77H DVD player displays "TRAY LOCKED" and you can't eject a disc or open the tray, try the following - First turn the unit off. Then, while holding down the eject, play and stop buttons simultaneously (on the front of the DVD player), turn the unit on with the '/O button (also on the front of the player). This released the locked tray for me.

Some have a belt that slips on the motor pulley that moves the tray which degrades to the point it won't drive the tray.

well on the CD drive u will find a pin hole which is used to eject the drive tray manually so use a pin and try to eject the CD.

unplug it and try it again, if that doesn't work see if theres a pin hole where you can push a paper clip in by the tray area.

there is a small hole in the front of the tray that will accept a straightened paper-clip. gently insert the clip and the tray should release. if the cd/dvd disc is dislodged from being flat in the tray, it may not come out. you might need to open the cover and manipulate the disc to get it back flat in the tray. a good first test is to see if the disc plays. if it does, it is in the tray correctly and should be easily released with the paper clip. the try might work after you release it.
another possible first try would be to gently push inward on the tray after telling it to release. if there is extra tension on the tray it could cause the mechanism to not release. freeing the tension on the tray could be all that you need to get the 'unlock' to release. (kinda like trying to open a door when someone is pushing it very hard against the lock mechanism. it wont be able to move).

This DVD does not have a small hole at the front!!!

Look on the bottom of your player. Between the two front feet you should see a narrow slot that is about 1 1/2" long (it should say "emergency hole". Shine a light into the slot, you should see a black pin about as big around as a pencil lead. Carefully push this pin in the direction of the arrow. It should release the drawer and allow you to open it.
