How can i test the ign. coil on a echo HC-1500 and
pull the spark plug and ground it to engine. pull rope, and you should be able to see a spark across the plug. If no spark, replace the coil. There really is no effective way to check a coil without a very expensive coil checker.

Hi, have you tried a new sparkplug? Also did you set the coil to magnet airgap at 8 thou? Also when you say you by passed the kill switch did you do this by leaving the wire off the coil? Because if you did it at the switch end the wire from the coil may be chafed somewhere and earthing the coil. Hope this helps, regards Phil.

take it to local small engine shop and get a free estament from them
they will tell you whats wrong with the unit
also have you tried to hold the coil wire and have a friend pull it over ??
if you get zapped then try replacing the spark plug

have to keep track of your serial number, your model number and
your engine type.
Even when your looking for parts such as the ignition coil keep track of your serial number.

Gears on my Mcculloch Chester 510 Hedgetrimmer may
The problem was with a stripped gear on a mcculloch hedge trimmer. I chucked it on the scrap heap and am borrowing my father-in-law's machine until I have time to shop for a new trimmer. Problem solved, but sadly not owing to your service this time.
Echo hedge clipper difficult to start
Remove the muffler and spark plug, turn unit so the spark plug hole faces down and let gravity take it's course. Unless this is an old unit, there is no reed valve. If the problem persists inspect the piston, rings and cylinder by looking into the exhaust port. If vertical scoring is visible a top end rebuild may be necessary.
DO YOU NEED HEARING PROTECTION?
I am not sure of the decible rating but it is recomended that you where eye and ear protection with all power equipment for safety. I do know that the decible rating is high enough to cause hearing damage over time.
