Ewi 4000s cutting off
My EWI 4000s started to play by its self making a loud low note and then it stop and now it won't play at all. I Reset to Factory Preset but that didn't help. What do I need to do to get it to play again?
Akai ewi 4000s neck strap mount
1 Un screw all the screw on black panel, but must remember where each on goes, but Be careful not the two screws in side mouth pice which holding the pitch bend unit. 2. open the battery cover remove all the battery 3. Remove the 1/4 earphone nut, and all screws on the silver metal case. (Under the black plastic ), you don't need to remove any screws from the "key" side 4. Use something to pull the battery Cartridge sideway out from Main attachments, but not all the way out from the ewi case, because you can't, the plastic case structure will be in the way, 5. Use some flat pice metal like dinning knife insert in to between black and sliver metal to separate the two parts, start from the mouth pice end, once you open wide enough the battery cartridge can be remove from the case out. Now you can open the Ewi 4000s and see the two HX nuts that holds the strap mount, put some Nail polish on it before you tie them up.....Warning.. You must pull the battery cartage sideway out from its electric plugging mount before you are trying to separate the plastic and silver housing otherwise you will damage the circuit board. That was What I did to mine. Good luck and may God provide you wisdom for this.
Ewi and vocoder setup
hi, i have a YAMAHA WX5, and want to know if it's to use a Vocoder?Mike Phillips is the same, or if it only works with the EWI 4000s?and as a connection is made?thank you!
Why is my new EWI4000s
Two things to check... check that the "tuning" is set to A440 as the adjustment range would reach a one note offset... Next check that the glide plate has not bent the pitch to the next note... If you are using MIDI, make sure the external device is not transposed on receive.

Hi, I am writing from Holland. I need Akai EWI
Here is one link:http://www.patchmanmusic.com/ Although they do not ship hardware outside the U.S. there is lots of good info. This is a good store and they ship Internationally:http://www.sweetwater.com/c966--Wind_Controllers Contact them to see if they have the cable in stock.
I've just tried to connect a simple MIDI interface
Here is a link to the best site in North America for wind synthesizers:http://www.patchmanmusic.com/WindControllerFAQ.html I am not a Mac user myself but it sounds like you might not have the threshold adjusted correctly on your Akai. It works differently when connected to external synths. Anyway I am sure you will find the answer on that site or in your manual. There is also a link on the site to download the latest updates.
Just bought the EWI4000s plugged
First of all I recommend reading your entire manual cover to cover. Then read it again with the EWI in hand. Go step by step following the setup procedure. You have a complex instrument so it is very easy to miss something or make a mistake. Here is a link to the best wind synth website in North America:http://www.patchmanmusic.com/ There is an 1/8" jack on the instrument for headphones. There is also a 1/4"unbalanced jack for plugging into an amp, mixer etc. Here is a link to the manual if you didn't get one:http://www.akaipro.com/ewi4000s/?tt=5 It is battery powered ( 4AA batteries ) so don't forget them. It can be powered by an optional MP9-II adapter (use the exact model ). It has a built in analog synth so if you set it up correctly you should get sound right out of the box. Hope this helps.
Can the thru tube be less resistant, larger
If you make the end wider and leave the rest of the tube the same diameter you will still have the same problem. The tube has to be a certain diameter to pass through the instrument. It also has to be this diameter for the breath sensor to work properly. WX5 players have had some success modding their mouthpieces by drilling small pressure relief holes but I don't recommend it. If you are a sax player who has come from an open mp and stiffer reed I can understand. You will have to alter your playing style. Try using your nose to vent some of the back pressure or let it escape through the corners of your mouth. Read up on circular breathing for some more hints.
I installed the Vyzex program
I think it is a compatibility issue of th program ...with the new operation system that were developed in the past 2 years..try to get on the program's site ..and see what they have in matter of updates and about the compatibility with the operation system you use..
If there is non ...than if you know it worked on windows XP...just scarify a partition and install windows xp on it ..and go for a dual boot ..when ever you need to use it ..boot into xp...and in rest use the computer normally
Cannot play staccato, there is latency
Consider joining the forum here:http://www.patchmanmusic.com/WindControllerLinks.html It sounds like it is a velocity setting problem but the solution should be in your manual. It may also be a setting in the sound module you are using.

How do you assemble a clarinet
First you need to have the barrel inserted in the top joint of the clarinet. It is the cylinder with no keys. I recommend putting the reed on the mouthpiece before you insert the end of the mouthpiece in the barrel. Some cork grease (a small amount rubbed on the cork will help it slide in easier. If it is too loose you will need it to be recorked but you might get away with wrapping a strip of paper over the cork as a temporary fix. The reed should be on the bottom looking down the clarinet when it is assembled. Make sure you have a reed that is the correct strength for you. A 2 is a good starter. looking at the squarish hole that the reed covers slide the ligature(looks kind of like a hose clamp, is metal with usually two screws to tighten) over the mothpiece with the screws on the hole side. Wet the reed with your saliva and then gently and carefully slide the reed under the ligature so it rests on the flat surface of the mouthpiece with the thinnest end facing the tip or end that goes in your mouth ( not the cork end). Gently tighten the ligature screws down so it holds the reed firmly in place with the tip of the reed just matching the tip of the mouthpiece. Slide the mouthpiece cap over the reed and assembled mouthpiece to protect the reed while inserting the mouthpiece in the barrel. Grasp the mouthpiece in your left hand with your thumb poiting at the reed end of the mouthpiece. Grasp the barrel with your right hand and the thumb pointing at the end you will insert the mouthpiece. Gently start the corked end of the mouthpiece into the open end of the barrel. Using a twisting motion with your left hand push the mouthpiece into the barrel until it is completely seated with a very thin crack showing i9n the joint where the mouthpiece and barrel meet. Assembled properly the reed should rest on your bottom lip when the clarinet is in playing position. Here is a link with more help:http://www.wikihow.com/Assemble-a-Clarinet Notice the ligature is different than I described as there are different designs. It doesn't really matter if the screws are on top or bottom. It is a matter of preference. Hope this helps. If the mouthpiece will not slide in at all it is the wrong one for your clarinet and you will have to take at least the barrel to a good musical instrument store to match a new one.
