I went to charge my canon FS100 camcorder than
have the same prob this morning, check the charging unit for the serial no. (will begin with CA) mine is CA590E, the 590 is a known problem to cannon, it will either discharge the battery pack (pray this is the fault) or it will internally damage the camcorder. mine is only 18 months old used a max of maybe 10 times. I will reply again this afternoon when i've tried a new battery charger, just waiting for my cannon dealer to open.
Created a DVD from my FS100, unable to get sound
It's the format of the movie clip (.mod). The files need to be converted to .mpg in order to get your sound working with WMC or other video player. Google for a .mod file converter and you'll find several out there.

It might be that she damaged the lens where you just got it slightly wet. damaged the lens or the CCD that receives the image itself. it might not be repairable at all, If its a case of water damage remove all power sources from it and use a hair dryer on low for a while to dry it out " make sure the screen itself does not heat up to much and focus on the lens. You may have to replace the camera or contact a repair person. I myself give any repair a try and most things with a little luck can be saved.

Download video from my Canon FS100
Use your flash drive and just drag and drop. Plug it into either a port on your computer or on your printer. Open windows explorer to cut and paste your video and photo files from the flash drive.
Video files don't upload
Windows XP? Are you using windows movie maker (WMM) to import them? I begin by copying the ".mod" files to my computer off the flash card which I insert into my printer. THe software Canon provides is useless. Next I change the file extension to ".MPG". Next open WMM, import video file, but when it starts doing so choose cancel. I don't know why that is. If you let it continue the import it seems to lock up. It will then let you drag and drop that video clip onto a movie.
